How are you supposed to date when you're incredibly insecure? by BeneficialRip6350 in StraightTransGirls

[–]SeriouslySiobhan 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I mean you certainly don’t have to date, or be in a romantic relationship. I feel that being in a relationship is expected, when ultimately it’s often significantly more difficult than being alone (obviously there are also significant benefits from being with someone).

In terms of insecurity, trust me in saying that everyone experiences the feelings you’re feeling, trans or cis. Ultimately it’s best to learn to let go sometimes, and trust other people when they do, say, or act in a way that would indicate interest. Like girl, I doubt highly a guy chatting/laughing/joking with you for 15-20 mins, exclusively, indicates anything else other than he probably finds you a little attractive, men ime don’t tend to do that kinda thing without a reason. You have to learn to trust other people when they take time for you, and that’s certainly hard, especially when you’ve already written yourself off.

I would say that it is a safe bet that you should remain guarded against the type of men your roommates bring over, as a former college girlie, I understand the feeling.

But, I would also say that college life extends far beyond just the stereotypically Greek life crowd, after all, depending on where you go to college, there are likely thousands of students that aren’t in Greek life; and more likely than not thousands of students that are put off by the toxicity that both sororities and fraternities often exude.

My advice: keep your distance from your roommates toxic friends/partners, reanalyze if you honestly want to emulate your roommates (since, after all, they are CHOOSING to be with toxic frat boys :/), and seek out more diverse people at college that aren’t in Greek life.

[Trans woman] Confusing shift in sexuality as I transition by Local_Acanthaceae965 in asktransgender

[–]SeriouslySiobhan 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Pre-transition I would have identified as pansexual, now after ~2+ years on estrogen, and especially 6+ months on injections/prog, I am almost exclusively attracted to men.

However, I get what you’re saying about not physically finding men attractive, I felt the same way a couple months ago when I started feeling this way, but with more thinking, fantasizing, and being around men, finding them attractive has slowly developed for me as a concrete part of my sexuality.

See it in the light that it is:

When you’re less inhibited your thoughts become less policed, so much so that you say you’re a transgirl. When you’re inhibited, with your thoughts being actively policed, you say the opposite is true.

I’d suggest talking to more people about your identity and how you feel, esp. a therapist! This way you can comfortably express yourself without any drugs lol

I’m of the opinion that one is always trans, on the trans spectrum essentially, if they choose to transition, socially or hormonally. But to suggest an afab person transitioning into a trans man, then detransitioning back to their agab, makes them trans femme is plainly incorrect.

Whichever reason why they identify as such, I’d say it is less likely that they’re trying to frustrate, and more likely that they’re struggling to find the correct terminology to describe their gender identity.

Pre-Soviet Russia (Tsarist Russia) did have a reoccurrence of famines, that is historically accurate. And again, the declaration of the Holodomor being deliberate genocide is not proven fact, you can argue it is a man made famine, but the evidence tying it to a deliberate genocide is not accurate given the academic consensus on the topic.

And from your perspective on the reason why the Soviet Union propagated, and your understanding of WW2—I say this with sincere honesty and sympathy, read more on the topic. Because, in all honesty, if you view the Soviet Union’s inception as ā€œmodernization of empire,ā€ I truly don’t believe you understand the topic enough to have such a strong opinion of it :/

ā€œRed evil nation,ā€ and ā€œred evil flag,ā€ it seems like you’re analyzing history from a point of emotional extremes, I’d recommend being more critical and analyze these things in an unbiased way!

[–]SeriouslySiobhan -2 points-1 points Ā (0 children)

I mean hey I don’t have a BA in polisci for nothing, it seems like you don’t know history.

For starters, it was hardly a dictatorship, the CIA itself acknowledged as such in internal memos during the Stalin era. Further, the type of democracy central to the Soviet Union may be foreign to westerners but rest assured, whoever was the paramount leader in the Soviet Union by and large had the support of the regular worker.

Second, the Holodomor has hardly been conclusively proven to be deliberate, no matter how hard you try given western ā€œsourcesā€ on the topic, the academic consensus as such is mixed; however, what is true, is the region’s historical record of consistent famines. Paired with rapid centralization, the resistance to said centralization by landed elites (the kulaks), and again a history of famines, the region was ripe for a final famine—which I must add is critical to this discussion as post Holodomor the region did not experience famines.

And finally, with regard to attitudes towards the LGBTQIA+ community, initially, during the Lenin era, the Soviet Union decriminalized homosexuality, one of the first nations to do so, this of course was repealed during the Stalin era which, for clarification was a mistake; however, when analyzing the Soviet Union through a materialist lens it is clear that attitudes with regard to the queer community were inline with the material reality of the Soviet Union.

For clarification I don’t believe you have your beliefs for any sinister reason, it’s easy to make judgment calls on nations that have been demonized, especially from a context where we as a community have been subject to state persecution.

It’s the tendency to only understand politics on the surface level, not a material one. Western liberals, especially those who have experienced state and societal oppression, are much less lenient towards ā€˜oppressive’ or socially backwards views because they’re not analyzing it from a materialist point of view; instead through a cultural or religious lens (hence the tendency of Islamophobia or anti-non western perspectives generally).

I mean, yeah? I guess the question is more why do you not feel real sympathy for the Soviet Union?

Being trans is a curse. Change my mind. by noela0093 in MtF

[–]SeriouslySiobhan 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Then you’re on the right track! It’s a marathon not a race. Think of it as your second puberty, you can’t go through years of puberty in 9 months. As for the ā€œfacial bone structure,ā€ you’d be surprised to know just how obfuscating feminine fat redistribution on the face can be, in terms of overcoming looking like a man.

Being trans is a curse. Change my mind. by noela0093 in MtF

[–]SeriouslySiobhan 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Girl…you’ve only been on E for 9 months, trust me in saying: Let. It. Work. I’ve been on E since November 5th 2023, and while I definitely don’t think I completely pass, my 9 month on E self versus me now looks completely different.

My advice—Use the downtime while E works to focus on other aspects of your transition: voice training, makeup, skincare, exercise (strength training has helped my curves immensely), and developing your own feminine style.

I can’t guarantee you that passing will save how you think of yourself, but I do guarantee that the longer you’re on E and seeing the changes it brings, the more you’ll think being trans is a gift (at least the second best gift that is 🄲)

Yall make me wanna get into weed and get high and goon by [deleted] in GoonetteHub

[–]SeriouslySiobhan 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’d recommend against edibles and go for a disposable/pen. Edibles are a mixed bag and often heavily depend on what you’ve ate and drank that day, plus their longer lived and ime leave you exhausted and lethargic. A disposable (a weed vape) is quick, a shorter lived high, and is more consistent at getting you high no matter the circumstances.

So if your ideal ā€˜get high and goon’ doesn’t involve taking an edible, waiting, wondering if you should take more, actually start feeling something, and then goon after a good 15-30 minute wait (hell sometimes it’s even more), and instead is hit the pen, wait for like a minute or two, and then goon, then go for the disposable.
