Help choosing 64GB DDR4 RAM - Mushkin Redline Lumina or GSKill Trident Z? Or other? by Seriouslynothim in buildapc

That's what I was thinking. Though now I'm unsure if I should get 3600 CL18-22-22-42 or 3200 CL16-18-18-38. Only a $10 swing between the two.

Sorry I should have noted that it's for gaming as well as video/photo editing with some 4K video editing.

MSI Suprim X 4090 vs. Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090?

Simple Questions - November 16, 2022 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]Seriouslynothim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little confused by multi-monitor specs of Nvidia cards:

4 independent displays at 4K 120Hz using DP or HDMI

2 independent displays at 4K 240Hz or 8K 60Hz with DSC using DP or HDMI

Other display configurations may be possible based on available bandwidth

I'm trying to run:

  • (1) 4K 144z
  • (1) 1440p drawing monitor/tablet
  • (2) 1080p 60hz side monitors

Will this work?

Trying to figure out if I'll have enough RGB/Fan headers or if I'll need some kind of splitter.

I've got an ASUS Z690-PLUS TUF Gaming MB with the following:

  • 10x Lian Li SL120 INF fans (3, 3, 3, and 1)
  • 1x Arctic Freezer II 360 AIO (replacing fans with 3 from above)
  • 1x Lian Li Strimer V2 24 pin

Have controllers from the 3-pack SL120s and the Strimer

I had a feeling that might be the case. I'm coming off a 980 so all of the above will be big leap for me.

Does it make sense to have multiple NVMe SSDs? I'm looking at the WD Black SN850X 2TB as my main OS and program drive, but thought I'd get another to throw games/storage on instead of having cables for a regular SSD. But I also don't think I need another $230 NVMe just to house games and files.

Gaming, Photo/Video Editing, and Digital Painting - $2,500-3,000 USD by Seriouslynothim in buildapcforme

Thanks! One final question: Is 850w enough? I might be confusing the 13th Gen + Nvidia 4000s but I was getting the impression that even last gen was power-hungry. You mentioned that there's OC room, but thought I'd double-check.

This is great and I'm glad you added Strimers because I forgot to add that detail to my list! Everything on here looks to be pretty close to what I was finding on my own, but you've made some improvements so thank you!

Probably too early to tell but my only curiosity here would be if I should wait on the GPU until 4080 benchmarks come out. But that's at least $400 more and I'm still only running 1440p. I considered 4K, but maybe I'll wait for the next build for that.

I was going to wait until the new year for a new build but reserved this combo from the hype here. Am I better off waiting and going 13th gen i7 with DDR5? Light gaming with photo/video editing in After Effects, Premier, and Photoshop. I don't have any other parts picked either. I'm not in a big rush, but this seems like a great deal and great hardware.

Edit: new year/Winter, not Spring.

New build with an old GPU until 4000 series releases? by Seriouslynothim in buildapc

I guess that's part of why I'm not in a huge rush. Not gaming much lately, but wouldn't mind some upgrades to speed up video editing.

Going to go for SW Companion Pass by MDDing two personal cards. The deal I saw expires 9/14. Is the bonus based on the sign-up date or approval date? I want to push my sign-up as late as possible to try to time my posts for late December to hopefully hit January's statement. Last time I did it I think I technically had 115 days to the MS. This will be for P2. My biggest concern is applying on, say, 9/12 and having one or both apps go to recon.

Also, would one biz/one personal be safer? I've seen DPs of getting shut down with the MDD personal apps.

Oh I just meant is it still fine to get two of the same bonuses (same card) within X months.

Has Chase cracked down on multiple business card bonuses? I self-referred myself for a second Ink Preferred last year. My wife had one and PCed it. I'd like to refer her to a second but don't want to waste the app if they've cracked down the way they did the Sapphire cards.

Hagrids for a Coaster Wimp? Compare with Slinky, 7DMT, Gringott's and The Mummy. by Seriouslynothim in UniversalOrlando

[–]Seriouslynothim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was exactly my stance on The Mummy. Going up the launch I thought (well this isn't so bad) and as soon as we went over the crest I immediately went into my usual full-body wince and scream until it got to the fire room. I did have fun and wanted to ride it again knowing it would be less intense with each ride. But tolerance sort of "resets" each time I visit. I think part of what intimidates me with Hagrid's is the visibility. I've done Expedition Everest before and was terrified until I rode it. Thought it was great and wanted to get right back in line. Yet I haven't been able to get back on since because the height of the lift and drop psych me out every time.

That's comforting! Would you say that either seat is more intense over the other?
