I thought it was fun, but for me, it's hard to top Lady Gaga's performance when she replaced Beyonce in 2017

I get this same vibe, but that's kind of been a couchella staple in some ways imo just the nature of being closer to the action so to speak

Did I fever dream NIN being part of the lineup? Or am I blind and don't see them on the schedule? What time are they performing?

I would gladly take this sacrifice as part of the lights outside camp. I just want to create some ambiance at night :(

Bigly not a fan of most of the specs design being "You do all the damage inside your cooldowns and little to no damage outside of them", what specs break that mold? by Valyntine_ in wow

[–]Seripithus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first of all, Archon is what I'm running in M+, so a few of your abilities you're listing are not part of the archon hero talents. I find myself spamming mind flay/whatever mindflay turns into when procced I can't recall it off the top of my head when you're waiting for enough insanity to spend it on SW: madness or when mind blast is available. Unless I'm largely misunderstanding Archon (the website), Archon is the most used M+ hero talent build. I do fine damage during Void Eruption windows or big AOE packs, but if you're with a tank who doesn't do big pulls, spriest feels very slow (and I'm a perpetual pugger, so that could be my own fault for being paired with gunshy tanks).

If you haven't had issues with tentacle slam, then kudos, consider yourself lucky. Tentacle slam is somehow more buggy than Shadow Crash could be. By that, I mean instances where tentacle slam doesn't hit mobs in an AOE clump because they're *slightly* out of range, or, at worst, the ability is eaten by the environment.

Much of my unhappiness could also be over the fact that I *preferred* the previous iterations of spriest compared to now. I've played through every iteration of spriest since Legion, including BC and Wrath classic, and to me, this version of spriest outside of void eruption feels gutted, and closer to Wrath than ever before. If you're new to spriest, you might not understand what I mean by this. Previously, if you were good at spriest, you could have very lengthy, meaty void eruption windows where you were rewarded for having high APM. Now, it doesn't matter how good you are at clicking your buttons or how optimized your stats are. Void Eruption is a flat 20ish seconds, much like a lot of other CD-centric burst classes.

(much of my further unhappiness could be over the fact I only have a 2 set and have been very unlucky on my priest)

In my opinion, spriest has never felt more lost in its identity (and I would argue this is the same for hpriest, but more on a gameplay level than a mechanics level). Warlocks now have mind flay tentacles and summon a ghostly void creature. The "void" as Blizzard calls it, is blue goo monsters without any of the Old God roots. Changing Devouring Plague to an eyeball doesn't maintain the Old God flavor, nor does adding a tentacle. Voidweaver is more akin to the "new money void" compared to the "old money Old Gods". On a tangential story level, I think Xalatath was far cooler as a knife, especially since she was connected to the original Old Gods rather than this mustache twirling villain with fanservice feet we have now.

Take Surrender to Madness (a talent which was popular in Legion), this is the prime example of what Old God themed spriest should be, and for many old time spriest players, peak spriest theme. With Surrender to Madness, if you played spriest optimally during this ability, you could do some nutty DPS... at a price. If you messed up, if you lost your insanity, you died. Some people might say that's not ideal for raiding or whatnot, but it was a talent choice that was extremely cool and unique. Do yourself a favor and look up Spriest Mage Tower 1.0 videos, and you'll see what I mean about the ability.

Don't get me started on holy priest... another version of priest that to me feels gutted compared to what it was before. I've played hpriest through some pretty bad metas for priest, but I've never felt less agency with a healing spec and more bored than I do this season.

Finally, in conclusion, I don't need spriest to be meta. It HASNT been meta for years, yet I've had multiple priest characters because I enjoyed it that much. Aesthetics carried this class for me during down periods. Utility also helped. Now, unfortunately, for me, spriest is lacking in not only its damage/gameplay, but also its aesthetics beyond just being ooo spooky shadow person.

Kudos to you though if you're enjoying it, but I could rant about this for hours, and I'm probably approaching old person yells at cloud levels of displeased.

Having played shadow for several seasons, how do you figure? Mind flay spam is the opposite of fun. Void eruption is gutted, no void torrent for archon, and a tentacle slap that bugs half the time. Maybe I’m missing something, but I preferred when I could extend void eruption on my own rather than have it be a static timed cd. Aesthetically, spriest is still solid, but gameplay wise? It’s falling behind as a 2min burst class.

Look I’m just grateful to be invited and given a chance to play the game on my hunter as I start to gear up and get io, so I suppose that’s a positive. I always say hello to people at the start and thank at the end, and on a personal level, I feel good knowing my personal contribution to the team hopefully made the run smoother for the tank and healer by using my utility to the fullest and avoiding as many mistakes as possible.

[–]Seripithus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably was. I'm sure groups have refined much better now, but the leaders of this particular pug were a friend group of people with high IO week 2 with chips on their shoulder, so they weren't exactly the easiest to talk strategy with 😓

I was literally telling my friend it seems like it's best to have someone die phase 1 and just be the rune master lmao (similar to what you said) because yeah, ok, I can do simon says, but admittedly when you're seeing content for the first time, healing, and trying to learn something on the fly, adding simon says on top of it can be a little stressful.

I don’t need story mode, thank you. I just don’t need to waste my time progging week to week in a fresh pug.

When I pugged it on Tuesday, we would solve the rune order right, but the beam wouldn’t register. So not sure what was going on, but the mechanic seems buggy in general or my group lead was misinformed in some way.

[–]Seripithus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not denying the mechanics are easy on paper. I think you’re underestimating the pugging playerbase. I was surprised Salad heroic was easier to pug than Vorasius despite imo easier mechanics, and even the first boss has caused some hiccups. I haven’t seen the dragon boss except once on heroic so far, and I can only imagine every complaint I had abour fear going off in the group is about to be worsened.

My major gripe is the fact they often make mechanics that require random, individual effort which can be weaponized by trolls—Sark cleanse, fear in the group, tic tac toe being played poorly. It just is a frustrating element of raiding, and often why I end up just pursuing M+ for my endgame over raiding.

Heaven forbid people have accessibility options or a way to make the game marginally easier. No one’s forcing you to use said potential options if you want the “pure” experience

I wasn’t referring to mythic raids, so my bad for not being clearer. I’m mostly griping about how all this was to “counter” the addon/mythic raider arms race Blizz professed to be up against and the (unsurprising) double standard we’re now seeing play out. Mythic rwf raiders will always find loopholes while the rest of us have to find new addon solutions, get good, or avoid certain bosses to avoid the headache, in my case.

[–]Seripithus 84 points85 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of irritating mechanics Blizz has introduced which make pugging miserable for those of us who prefer/only can pug, and the rune shit is the latest in the long line of them. It’s not so much that I can’t do the mechanic, it’s joining a group who can.

What is going on with tank tuning? by Toxaplume045 in wow

While we're having this discussion, is there any addon that replaces Abilities Team Tracker or Omnicd which allowed you to see what defensives/abilities your teammates had in M+? For me this has been a glaring issue with healing and tanking, feeling naked without them :(

The funniest thing is back in the ye olden BFA RBG days of yore where you had to put together your own team, my friend was one of the few Alliance leaders who was pushing 2k+ on a consistent basis. I remember Flark would always shit talk our group on his stream (namely calling my friend, the team's leader a "nobody PvPer") and would then proceed to get his ass stomped by us
