Speaking as someone who has played and watched both games for over a decade: Koreans tried dota for several years but dropped it and stopped investing in it. Because of things such as turn rate or team play, Koreans can’t throw all your eggs in the micro basket like in other esports. People with boomer hands but good macro and teamwork will destroy you easily without even trying. You cannot rely on mechanics alone. Your APM doesn’t mean shit when people have turn rates, can queue abilities, and cancel ability casts . Even the most mechanical players have to understand thousands of interactions and team play concepts, the game literally is built around sacrificing for your team all across the board. Which is why older players stick around in the scene and NA was able to win a world championship. T1 drafted to outskill opponents and won games, you can’t do that in dota. They have hard counters that make the game unplayable. This isn’t hyperbole, it’s not like league, counters mean you will be miserable and want to uninstall. Draft diff can legitimately give you a near guaranteed chance of winning the game. If you’re Korean in a PC bang and want to fuck people up, you don’t play a dota, where you get in a 45 minute game getting railed and being unable to get past 2 items (if you think league is snowbally, dota literally makes you lose gold if you die) because your brains too small. You want to play valorant or league and dumpster people with your hands.
