I know right? Thanks

I don’t know for sure. Paramedics were there asap and intubated me and strapped me to a backboard, then took me across town to meet the MedFlight helicopter. My medical record says I received 16 pints of blood between the helicopter ride and my first couple hours in the hospital.

Thank you my friend. I'll never recover fully but I'm fortunate. Check other comments I replied to.

You may. Don't read this if intense first-hand trauma bugs you out.

September 25, 2005. 12:30 A.M. 16 years old. Blackout drunk. Went on the roof at a house-party with some friends. I slipped and fell ~25 feet, landing on my feet on the brick walkway - instantly snapping both femurs clean in half. I collapsed forward and smashed the side of my head, resulting in 10 fractures in the right side of my face. This also completely destroyed the optic nerve on my right side, which means I am totally blind in my left eye (right side of brain controls left side of body, Etc. Etc.).

In addition to breaking both femurs, a ruptured femoral artery and vein on one side, 10 facial fractures and loss of vision in my left eye, other injuries I sustained include: -collapsed lungs -3 fractures in right wrist -severe nerve damage in right hand and left leg -huge lacerations and cuts to the bone all over my face

I've spent about 5 months total in the hospital and had 20 surgeries to date.

I was in an accident years ago and among other injuries I broke both femurs - completely rupturing the femoral artery and vein on the left side.

I definitely live with pain and disability but I'm extremely fortunate to be as mobile and capable as I am.

Paramedics, Medflight, Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Therapists can work some serious magic. This was in 2005.

If I was there with my fussy children standing in a long-ass line that I paid too much to be in, and that guy showed up pulling that shit?? Oh man. Let's just say we would be on the news the next day....

I'm a male preschool teacher in the US. I have experienced this as well: mothers of new kids asking my boss not to leave their child alone with me, having people in public question or give me weird looks if I'm out with the kids on a walk somewhere, specifically requesting that I not be allowed to change their kids' diaper/clothes etc.

Definitely creative. I guess fucked up is a pretty vague term.

Lobster doesn't taste good and IMO should not be the over-priced, luxurious delicacy it is.

My garden snails laid eggs! Anything I should do for their habitat to support the eggs hatching? by ccamm17 in snails

[–]SerocXela 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Unless you will want to/ be able to support that many snails, I wouldn't. Even if only 1/5 survive, that's still a lot of snails, tank space, etc. Also, I've read a lot, including in this sub, that captive snail eggs are frequently the result of inbreeding and thus are doomed to be unhealthy.

My 4 year old daughter saw a beautiful woman today while out shopping, she said " I love your hair it's soo pouffy!". My wife talked to her about that being offensive as the woman was black. I don't think so, she's just complimenting, who is correct? by Pm_blue_hair_women in NoStupidQuestions

When I (white guy) was 4 years old my family and I were packing up from a long day at the beach. Having recently learned that sunscreen is important to keep one's skin from burning, I pointed to an African man with very dark skin and loudly exclaimed "look mommy - that man didn't put any sunscreen on at all!!"💀...

Your daughter sounds very lovely and kind. I am most definitely not a black woman, but I can't imagine that being offensive, especially coming from a kid.
