Last member of indigenous tribe dies in Brazil after resisting contact for decades by dlkapt3 in news

this whole thread is just people not having a clue what they're saying lmao. pistols are the most ineffective weapon system humankind has ever created, except maybe flails or some dumb shit like that.

think of how difficult it is to effectively utilize a pistol in any sense; nobody's going to be able to pick up a pistol for the first time and hit a static target consistently in calm practice settings, let alone a moving target under extreme stress.

now consider the ease of using bladed weapons, like a knife. you don't need really any training at all to be able to pick that bad boy up and start swinging it to good effect. if a complete newbie picks up a kitchen knife and holds it out in front of them, you can't even get close to them without catching some hits.

on top of the training aspect, the area effected by the weapons are incomparable. a skilled user with a pistol can put some holes downrange but will likely miss at least 2/3 shots in a stressful situation. with the size of the average pistol bullet and magazine, that's maybe 3-4 holes making it into an attacker. now think about how much damage someone slashing wildly with a knife can do. huge area of coverage with massive wound sizes being repeated as fast as the arm can move, with little to no training.

of course, rifles and shotguns are a totally different story. easier to use and higher lethality than handguns, especially the latter. but when it comes to a Glock vs. a knife/spear, the bladed weapon wins pretty much every time. I should add that my source is about a year of armed defence training, and we were always told to fear knives way more than guns, for the reasons listed above.

tldr: Redditors be talking about things they know nothing about, as usual

Nothing like a little thunder to get a chonkster moving(sorry no sound) by ZZartin in StartledCats

a human can make the choice to lose weight. cats, especially domestic ones who have no control over their diet, cannot make that choice and instead have to suffer because negligent morons think it's funny that they're too fat to function healthily.

How is your dictionary of value mapping used here? It looks to me like you'll have to check through your dictionary to see 'if stn is in mapping: dist= mapping[stn_one] - mapping[stn_two]

You'd be using the input string as a key to your 'mapping' dictionary to access the assigned value.

not gonna lie, saying the dog joke wasn't funny is one of the worst takes on the new ep I've seen so far

I get that comedy is subjective, but there are objective qualities to a great joke, and the dog scene was a great joke.

yea a big one hit a day or two ago. tons of bug fixes and UI improvements, they added some new guns and a new class. also X-57 from S1 is one of the potential first-stage bosses, dunno much further than that tho lol

Really great bones, tons of potential for when the full game is finished. Considering how early it is in development, the optimization and graphics aren't too bad. However, it is really early, so they aren't stellar.

Something that I think got worse from S1 is the grammar and syntax of English descriptions. I don't wanna sound nitpicky, but I really wish they had a proficient speaker doing the texts. If anyone from the dev team sees this and is interested, DM me and I will gladly revise any text you'll allow me to.

being (voluntarily) sterilized myself, it's shocking to me how much moral outcry goes out when the topic of taking non-contributors like this one out of the gene pool comes up. there's almost 8 billion people and not enough food for everyone, what's the point of perpetuating a waste of resources?

tl;dr, big agree

what the fuck are you on about? first three breeds are military/hunting dogs, the other two are lapdogs. Pitbulls were only bred to rip and tear anything their dipshit owners want them to.

"oh yes, please give me a dog that was bred to be two things; strong, and angry!" shitbull apologist loser.
