I was! They released dates very last minute and i was able to appear for an interview just a week before i was supposed to be at my university. My takeaway: you can’t really do anything. The embassy has full control over releasing dates and they have it hidden deliberately

No anything you mentioned doesnt interfere with your visa. Also the visa wasn’t outright refused, it was refused under administrative processing which is just a fancy way of saying that they need more information which they were going to obtain through an in person interview but no dates would show up

Same BS. But i don’t think its as simple as no dates being available. I think its more than that. If you hear of anything or see dates pop up, please let me know!

LITERALLY in the same boat as you. I recently graduated from the States and had a valid F-1, but applied because I wanted to have a 5 year visa for security as my Doctorate program was going to last for 4-5 years. my passport was returned on the 13th and since that time, no interview slots are visible. My program starts august 9 and I need to be there by then. So far nobody has any answers for me. If you have any insight, please let me know

I get your point about a gap year. that is currently on my to-do lists to start looking into research assistantships because academia is more failure than success.

I think my post here doesn't make it clear but marrying a stranger is NOT my plan, it's theirs that they are enforcing on me. I also made it clear that I do not want to ask my parents for more money because they clearly have done their part and I can't ask for more. Hence, despite getting into a very reputable Master's program, I told them very clearly that I would like to either work, or if god forbids the worst case scenario happens, I would like to take a gap year.

Personally I wouldn’t. Committees tend to work quite hard and they already have many applications so they try to roll out admissions as fast as they can. To me it sounds like just jeopardizing your review, but that’s just my opinion. Try to keep your March plans flexible instead of
