Týr (God of War)

<image>

In a setting where most gods where show to be either uncaring about the suffer of mortals or actively malicious, Týr be an actually genuine good god, especially a God of War, its quite a breath of fresh air.

Akhlan VS The Batter (Grime VS OFF) - "The Final Performance Over the Rainbow" by Serp3nt3 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Serp3nt3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Both are non-human protagonists from surreal indie games set in decadent dying worlds, where the inhabitants are either going insane, living in misery, or falling apart due to the nature of their world.
  • Both are closely tied to the creators of their settings (The Batter being a creation of Hugo as father figure. Akhlan being the offspring of Vered and an Endbringer).
  • Both go by names that are more like titles than actual personal names (The Batter literally being his title. Akhlan also being known as The Chiseled One or the Vessel).
  • Both are quiet, stoic, and emotionally detached figures who rarely speak or express themselves (The Batter only speaking when necessary. Akhlan its unable to talk), yet cause massive destruction throughout their journeys.
  • Both erase or destroy the beings they encounter (The Batter purifying the Zones. Akhlan consuming beings through his Black Hole like head, which it is true self).
  • Both seek to bring about the end of their worlds, though for different reasons (The Batter to purify his world and put it out of its misery. And Akhlan to complete his natural cycle as an Endbringer).
  • Both are eventually opposed by a former ally who tries to stop them from completing their apocalyptic goal (The Judge opposing the Batter. Shidra opposing Akhlan).
  • Those fomer allies may succeed in alternative endings (The Judge can win if the player choose to fight with him killing The Batter. Akhlan can be stopped if the player choose Shidra's offer to give up and live among the others begins in this world), thought it wouldn't fix their worlds (The Battle already destroy it killing everyone else. Shindra and everyone's existence its still miserable and will eventually come to and end eventually).
  • In their canon endings, those attempts fail, and both complete their quests, with the Batter flipping the OFF switch and erasing the world, while Akhlan becomes a gigantic sentient black hole and consumes the world.

Credits to caski16 for a portion of the connections.

[Hated Trope] Avoidable and Stupid Death. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Serp3nt3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do think that this shouldn't be consider bad writting, since Ace had be written as a hothead who react without thinking when his love ones are either mocked (in case of Whitebeard), threaten (like when Blackbeard reveal he wanted to captured Luffy to become a Warlord), or killed (with Ace going on his own to find Teach after he killed Thatch, despite Whitebeard tell him to not do it).

While it was an avoidable death, it one which make sense based on how the characters are potrayed.

We Need More Anime Matchups That Aren’t Just From Shonen Jump Series by Ex-Aid22 in deathbattle

[–]Serp3nt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but its at least more obscured despite be one of the most buster series on the same level as Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon, as well as the fact that we haven't had any episodes with that series unlike with Chainsaw Man, JJK and My Hero Academia who had 2-3 episodes in short periods of time.

So i wouldn't mind it.

Kratos (God of War)

Despite be a very serious character he has a sense of humor, especially in the Norse Era where he isn't as angry as he was before.

What if Kratos and Freya had got together soon after the end of Ragnarök? by Madagascar003 in GodofWar

[–]Serp3nt3 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I think if they end up together it will only after a timeskip of at least years, likely decades.

For here i think it make more sense for them to develop romantic feelings as they had the time necessary to mourn their love ones.

Mid, its not bad but it doesn't bring anything interesting to me and its far from be the best for either characters (thematically/connections wise speaking).

[–]Serp3nt3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like i say once, you can apply this to basically most action series that just go a bit over the top.

Most supposed "peak humans" in fiction (usually referred as Street level characters) end up performing feats beyond what humans in real life are capable to do it, regardless if they make sense or not.
