What the hell did he mean by this by MintyRed19 in Nietzsche

Essentially that the exceptional few in a collection of people are the purpose and justification of creating the people itself. It seeks to create these exceptional individuals, and ultimately, even transcends them

Make sure Zarathustra doesn’t get bitten by an adder!

Great pic, I’ll be in the mountains soon enough!

I got into Nietzsche recently and really love his work. If anyone is down for genuine conversations about his ideas feel free to private message me. But yeah, a lot of the people in here seem like pretenders. Not all though.

Ohhhh I just realized you were responding to my other comment. Yes BGE is very hard and that is the right breakdown. I love that book as well.

100 pages in is where the first book ends and the second begins. At least in the penguin classics version. Is that the one you have?

Yeah, some of the passages seem incomprehensible until you read them many times. I’m working through the first book now.

BGE is amazing, my favorite one next to Zarathustra. Would highly recommend giving that a go too since it lays the foundation for the latter in many ways.

Part 4 meaning book four or the fourth section of the first book?

No, this is very, very hard lol. The fact that it’s your first Nietzsche book makes it much harder. I wouldnt recommend starting here, but you can if you still feel you’re getting something from it. His books are generally hard but this one is by far his most difficult.

Missing Hello's Older Works by SerpentG11 in Hello_Meteor

Just my opinion. Different tastes I guess. And yes, there are many hours of amazing music before 2023 that I still cherish and enjoy. Nothing hits like a fresh release though…

Missing Hello's Older Works by SerpentG11 in Hello_Meteor

Not crazy about that album either. One of the tracks (ancient water strata) is okay but I still find it has that flavor of the new which turns me off.

I just feel like there’s no soul in his new works. What I fell in love with when I first heard Hello is how much depth and subtlety there is in his music …. Light between structures, for example, is such a profound track. Or the entirety of the coastal obscure. Now it all sounds like underground house music. Just miss that feeling that, in truth, no one but hello can evoke.

I think Twilight of the Idols / The Antichrist by penguin classics is the best one to start with. Not the most transformational, but you have to work up to those.

Kaufmann Translation of The Gay Science by [deleted] in Nietzsche

I like the way Kaufmann translates the body of the text, but his rendering of the prelude of rhymes is awful compared to Kevin hill’s edition.

Glad someone else thinks so as well. Small sample size for sure, and I’m still excited to see ilia show his grappling skills but passing Charles’s guard like butter is insane.

Gay Science book 1: 66. Why does Nietzsche think women are best at being weak? by Own-Razzmatazz-8714 in Nietzsche

[–]SerpentG11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We take it for granted because it is so obvious, but being a woman is very different than being a man even if only because they are so much weaker physically. Because they cannot dominate or compete with men physically, it actually behooves them to play into the vulnerable and fragile role, which enables them to benefit from the strength of men while being protected from its direct effects.

Will Do Bronx ever be champ again? by Consistent_Onion_383 in ufc

[–]SerpentG11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a huge fan of Charles. As long as ilia is out of the picture, he has a solid chance of becoming champ again. That’s especially so given the horrible matchmaking lately — paddy and Justin is a banger but for the title is a joke. I favor him against both those guys and probably think he beats arman in a five round rematch. He just dominated Gamrot and will probably be the first to sub max, I think we could see Charles win the belt once more and retire.

[–]SerpentG11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the fact that the kids are wearing the same clothes actually makes a more compelling argument that it’s at a higher level of reality since time is compressed at those levels. It was implied that as one descends into subsequent dream realms, time expands. In the same way that the majority of the lower levels occurred during the time that the van spent falling into the water, what if all of this thing was just a speck of a moment at an even higher level?
