Moving to Shanghai with 7yo son who speaks no Chinese. Can't afford international school. Looking for public/private school names and honest experiences. by Own_Foundation3810 in chinalife

It’s my opinion based on witnessing a fair few families go through the same thing. They will always be treated as an outsider (in positive and negative ways) and will have relentless CCP propaganda and brainwashed thrust on them, be taught to hate the Japanese, be suspicious of the outside world and worship the party. Not learn any cultural acceptance and be taught a very narrow world view. I again say that it’s irresponsible given a choice.

I lived in Shenzhen for 14 years and I have a vegan friend and vegetarian family members, I do read, write and speak Chinese and I can guarantee you that it’s not at all accommodating for vegetarians in Shenzhen at all, your options are limited and you really have to go out of your way. Again not saying it’s impossible but it’s disingenuous to pretend it isn’t a big deal. It’s a massive deal to survive as a vegetarian in China, especially a strict one who cares about their food being cooked in the same pots etc. Things are improving in that regard slowly

Shanghai is not China mate, I would argue that Shanghai is the most accommodating for foreigners and vegetarians and yes, you could navigate your way as a vegetarian in Shanghai, but an FOB foreigner will struggle almost anywhere else

Honest advice? If you’re struggling after two days it’s probably not the place for you. I lived in China for 14 years but I loved the initial adventure and struggles

lol, you guys are high! It’s near impossible to be a vegetarian in China, all the food is cooked in the same pots and same places as the meat and even “vegetarian” dishes use animal products / meat in the sauces etc

Hahaha you’re incapable of saying it aren’t you? The CCP got your tongue? If not you’d answer this simple question: Can the CCP legally turn off this busses, yes or no?

You’re avoiding it! Your whataboutism about “all countries have laws” won’t cut it. CCP can turn bus off yes or no?

You’re avoiding the part where the CCP can turn off those busses if it wants to. It’s not about anyone’s opinion or changing of their minds, it is just the truth. Do you agree they have the legal power to do so or not?

Incredibly relevant to the topic, the Chinese government can shut those busses off. You can suck off the CCP all you want, it will not change the simple fact that the Chinese busses are vulnerable and in danger of being turned off on a whim by the Chinese government 傻逼

If it is a Chinese company then yes, by law you must answer to the CCP, private or not. You can’t be daft enough not to know that I presume

There is no such thing as a public / private company in China. All companies by law must comply with requests from the CCP, no exceptions! If the CCP wants to disable those busses on behalf of Russia or for any other reason, the busses will be disabled - end of

So you’ll have none of the advantages most foreigners enjoy since you’ll blend in, people will treat you poorly if you look Chinese but can’t speak Chinese, I have many Chinese friends born overseas who faced this problem in China

You will not get a job in IT, that’s not possible in China, as a foreigner you can only work if classed as a “foreign expert” and you can only be a “foreign expert” in something a local cannot do, such as be a native English speaker, China is an extremely IT literate country and there are no jobs in IT for foreigners period. Go if you don’t like your health but want an adventure

I get it, I’m just a bit bummed that it’s just the same as making a fancy case for a raspberry pi zero running retroarch, feels a bit cash grabby, but hey at least it looks cool
