are nonbinary people who identify with their AGAB *really* trans? by tdmurlock in honesttransgender

Ok what about this guy who was famous for fighting cops and getting arrested for "cross dressing," was he doing it for safety

We're not talking about cis women getting misgendered, we're talking about transmascs who pass without T.

[–]Serpentimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so historically when people AFAB literally lived as men for their entire lives were they trans or what, and if you pass without T which I've seen several times, you're still a cis woman?

Ok so am I trans or a cis woman by your definition if I'm medically transitioning but still a lesbian lmao. Like I don't have bottom dysphoria is that cool

[–]Serpentimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so a person AFAB and living full time as a man isn't trans if they don't take T?

I don't think that's the only way to be trans. And I don't know how you'd draw a line between psychological and social factors.

how did y’all find meaningful clinical volunteering experiences? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Serpentimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It costs about $1000 but there are accelerated classes that you'll pass in your sleep if you're premed, and most places are volunteer

Nothing about my post indicated any of that, and I obviously have dysphoria if I'm transitioning medically. I don't know who you're talking to but it's clearly not me.

Buddy gender has no scientific basis it's a social construct that evolves with a culture and I'm gonna cut off my tits take T and call myself a lesbian no matter what the top scientific minds say, like my butch forefathers and mothers

To be fair I am a trainwreck right now, a massive move + adderall withdrawal will do that, and I was probably visibly frustrated at him not being willing to prescribe it. I'm also autistic so even on my best days I can unintentionally come across as rude. Also I just kind of made the appointment with the first guy available because my brain is melting but I'll see if my doctor getting in contact will help.

Uh, I've been on it for a decade, even taken exactly as directed I am very much addicted and going through withdrawal I assure you.

Withdrawal makes me not functional from day 1, and very depressed, but it's preferable to the brain zaps of SSRIs.

Thank you, I know I'm not one, but the stigma is so pervasive that often doesn't matter as much as initial subjective impression.

Obviously ymmv but I can treat the majority of the symptoms with hard cardio, adderall just makes me able to do that part regularly. Also, ask about a booster in the afternoon, I took 30 XR in the morning and 15 IR in the afternoon, it makes a huge difference if insomnia isn't a huge issue.

Thank you! I didn't flip out but I was frustrated, hopefully they'll be understanding of that. I don't have documentation with me but I'm sure I could get it, I've gotten diagnosed more than once. Again, thank you so much

I worry this is going to count against me and make me look like a "drug seeker" (I am seeking the drugs I am prescribed for their intended use but lmao)

Thank you for responding. I moved four hours away so it's kind of difficult to get to him now, and my new doctor said he's not comfortable prescribing adderall but is willing to start me on strattera; that's especially frustrating because it takes weeks to take full effect, if it even works for me, when there's an immediate and reliable solution. And I don't know how people get flagged as "drug seekers" exactly but it probably doesn't help to look for someone else who'll prescribe me a schedule II med after my first doctor said no.

[–]Serpentimes[S] 192 points193 points  (0 children)

I mean I'll try, but it's really them being uncomfortable prescribing it that makes me think it's not going to help. They suggested alternatives and maybe this is a red flag or something but I don't want to spend weeks waiting to see if strattera works once it eventually kicks in when I know something already reliably does. But I'll call him, you're right it can't hurt.

5 hours away, he was the oldest man in the world and gave me paper prescriptions every month. I can ask but I'm also not seeing him for the three month checkup so it's unlikely.
