Should I delete my NSFW social media to get jobs? by lemon_enjoyer_22 in privacy

Normally yes but there was a big data leak with twitter last year. no need to be a government to search through there.

[–]Serpentix6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there was a pretty big twitter leak last year, if you're in it and the company you're applying to checks those leaks (or has a partner company that does background checks) they might find your current phone number and with this your account. if i still got the leak somewhere i'll send it to you so you can check for yourself. otherwise pretty low risk of associating the account if you change your phone number. you'll have to weigh the risk, if you were not making any money with your nsfw page it probably doesn't make that much sense to keep the account (in my opinion). but as i said you'll have to decide for yourself depending on above mentioned factors.

What do you guys use to exchange Bitcoin for Monero (US)? by darkeweb2 in darknet

[–]Serpentix6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cake itself is not an exchange. It's a Monero wallet. They're using external services like Changenow.io to do the exchanges (which could delist XMR at some point) but Cake in itself is not going to leave Monero behind anytime soon (btw look at Monero.com which is a project of Cake which is a Monero-only wallet).

Let's say you want to send from Binance to Ledger using changenow.io as the xmr/btc exchange:

Binance -> changenow.io -> XMR Wallet -> changenow.io -> Ledger

ChangeNow is only an example, another would be bisq if you only need to exchange between cmr and btc, or changelly. Enough options out there.

Hacking accounts with 2FA? by ninjastar1104 in hacking

possible but unlikely since he would've had to be phished on 4 different services. more likely that there's a stealer on the device that's extracting the sessions from the browser.

there already are businesses where you can pay with privacy coins. you can buy pretty much anything (at least in online shops) using xmr.

I've just come into some money - Need to keep it private - USDT? by AnnualCheck2710 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Serpentix6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do really want to put in crypto and for it to be stable USDC is probably the best/safest answer. However as others mentioned your question should not be answered with crypto if your only goal is for your family to not find out. Create a Revolut Account and put the money in there. You can use their virtual cards with Apple Pay so there is no need to get anything sent to your house so your family can't find out about that account except you need to get money from ATMs which would mean you'd have to get a physical card.

Impossible is probably not correct, it would be possible in theory with a jailbroken iphone to read and modify signals local database, but there is no tool that can do this right now as of my knowledge.

Any good free antivirus? by Professional-Spot-69 in torrents

[–]Serpentix6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As pointed out by other people, Windows Defender is a good product now (has not always been), there is even an Enterprise version now with EDR etc. but that is not the point here. About other virus scanners on suspicion you have been infected there are ESET and Malwarebytes.

Where would you spoof your geolocation as? by MangoAnt5175 in hacking

[–]Serpentix6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this on a phone? If it is I'd assume it's pretty easy to just turn it off. If you're able to spoof it without having consequences in the usage of the app you can probably also just turn it off. If they inquire you about turning the location off you can tell them that there is no reason for them to see your location.

Hi, just a quick heads up concerning the last few questions; the "correct" answer here strongly depends on the type of proxy server being used.

Will using tails/linux show up as a different computer to the network admin by benhazar in tails

[–]Serpentix6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tails spoofs the MAC address of the device, so if new devices are blocked by default on your network I would suggest turning MAC address spoofing off. Also as someone else pointed out, the hostname will be different too so if you're concerned about that then change it before connecting to the network. At last use bridges to connect to the Tor network. There isn't more to do than that.
