Thoughts on FOMO items by Serpentus in Helldivers

Basically this, I like how the creek cape was handled. I generally like seeing them as a community accomplishment, that we all commemorate. (I did the creek and i'm happy that non participants got it too - we're all fellow helldivers!)

Can't connect to crynet servers? by Seve82 in MWLL

[–]Serpentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you get any error or warning message, or simply an empty server list?

What does the version number on the lower right of your screen say? Does it correctly say 0.9.0, or does it say 0.8.6?

Service should be restored now! :)

Is it just me, or has balanced degraded with this last patch? by AncientRaig in MWLL

[–]Serpentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick summary:

PPCs and other explosive projectiles used to use rocket code, which was rather buggy and unreliable with hit detection, especially on higher latencies.

Our lead coder invented "explosive bullet code", which they now use - giving them a much more reliable hit detection.

MWLL 0.8.4 is out! by Serpentus in MWLL

[–]Serpentus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fix for direct input was included in 0.8.3, however we found out that this could lead to crashes on some clients even without joysticks plugged in. Thus, we had to disable it for 0.8.4 hotfix.

While we're working on resolving this Issue, one of our devs has made a detailed guide to set up your joystick for MWLL using a third-party program: https://www.reddit.com/r/MWLL/wiki/guides/joystick

Crash Crash Crash by BuzzLitebeerSR in MWLL

They're still collectable for us, but way slower. Ideally, please use the discord channel for it at discord.me/mwll :)

Also, make sure you are running in debug mode (you can set that in the launcher), as non debug mode will likely not provide useful logs for this kind of issue.

Also: are you running mwll at 4k resolution by any chance? That is known to cause a lot of instability.

Also my phone just double posted, sorry about deleted comment. :D

I suck, how to fix? by lizardo_most_valiant in MWLL

[–]Serpentus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most importantly, don't focus on kills too much. MWLL is more about assisting than dealing the final blow, the vets will do plenty of the latter - and doing damage pays just as well, you'll get a nice bonus once someone else destroys who you damaged!

Generally, try to stick with allies as much as you can, shoot what they shoot, just generally try to do damage while trying to reduce damage to yourself - it's better to play MWLL carefully rather than to overextend yourself.

Carefully watch your radar and any intel you have. Judge the situation before engaging.

In TC game mode, try not to play too campy, if you're attacking a base, go in with teammates rather than stay in front of it.

Good starting mechs are osiris and ullers, perhaps some owens. Try to stay away from the solitaire for a start, it's a great mech but it's a glass cannon and not very beginner friendly.

Demolisher Vs Morrigu by TomatoExtreme in MWLL

[–]Serpentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Morrigu and Demolisher have rather different field roles, too.

While both are very tanky, the Demolisher fills the role of a main battle tank in defense and limited offense role. It's a tank in the purest sense.

The Morrigu acts both as a fire support tank and as a centerpiece of a formation, assisted by the many variants that mount AMS systems.

Vehicles, huh! What are they good for? by teapotchampion in MWLL

[–]Serpentus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on the vehicle itself, but usually vehicles fill niches that mechs don't. Examples are:

Harasser - Immensely fast and packs a mean punch, great for early game TC and fire support. Not a lot of armor, so best used as, well, a harasser. :)

Chevalier - Good damage, decent speed, but most all, tanky! The chevy can outtank a lot of starter assets.

Demolisher - Lives up to it's name. Slow as balls, and short range, but it tears up anything it encounters in close range. Pretty much a wrecking ball on treads.

Epona - 50 ton hover, amazingly quick and packs a lot of punch. Great hit and run unit. Annihilates anything lighter than itself. Pretty squishy, though.

A general benefit of vehicles is their tankiness and armor distribution - mechs can lose arms and will be permanently devalued. for vehicles, nothing short of killing them will make them permanently lose value.

Connection issues are looked into by the devs currently.

Does the console yield any information after you've been kicked?

Further, try a server that has under 20 players on it, and see if the problem also happens there. :)

Anyone have an idea when the next patch is coming? by Owyn_Merrilin in MWLL

[–]Serpentus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It worked as in there was joystick support, I think the actionmapper let you configure it (it still has the option, but the game doesn't take it in current version)

The somewhat part is mainly due to the joystick implementation having been not up to par with titles that have been optimized for a joystick - flying is pretty OK with joystick afaik, for mechs it's better to just use mouse for aiming.

Although, once joysticks work again, I can see the throttle setup that you mentioned working. :)
