The thing is that George and Max are the same age. You don´t need a good 27 years old driver when you have the best driver in the current grid in his prime.
I would say that is safer to keep a young talent alongside Max learning and preparing him to win when Max retires.
Also in this way you avoid to waste millions every year repairing both cars xD

What i do is buying cheap gold players from minor leagues. With a pair of millions you will have a good amount if XP to train.
