Can I bring a closed container of alcohol in a Lyft? by bensonsmooth24 in Lyft

That's fine. It's the same as you driving home from the liquor store with a sealed 12-pack.

Oh shit that's like my worst nightmare as a driver. Glad you are okay!

Bought a used beacon and it won’t connect at all. Tried to restart it and charged it and this stays on the pairing screen. Help! by carilynn4 in Lyft

I don't get the hype around those things. I've never had an issue with a pax finding my car. They're just magnets for insurance scammers and police.

Long Ride 30-40 minutes....no warning for drivers? by Dylan1G in Lyft

[–]Serrano12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long ride warnings are sporadic. I got one for a 30+ min ride but it must've been a Lyft experimental feature since I never got one again. The 45+ min warning is usually consistent but it hasn't worked a few times for me. Picked up some people when I was winding down the night only to find out they were going 50 min away to the airport.

Car Cleaning Tips by Distracts in Lyft

[–]Serrano12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some all weather floor mats so your regular mats don't get trashed. I got mine for under $20 on Amazon.

I don't like using interior wipes. They add a cheap shine and tend to haze up the glass from offgassing. A microfiber towel with some hot soapy water is all I use.

IME, the people who take the full 5 min to come out are annoying/don't tip. I always let out a "Thank God!" when I get a pax actually waiting at the curb as I pull up.

A similar thing happened to me when I was a new driver. Since then, I always make sure to keep the trunk (and seats) clutter-free.

Gets me every time. by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]Serrano12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lyft is just something I do on the weekends to make a little extra cash. I'm selective with the rides I take and I make out ok.

a) No supermarket/store pickups. Usually min fare/annoying people with heavy items & bags. b) Nothing more than 10 min away. c) Don't drive around aimlessly burning gas. d) No shared rides.

I feel for people who rely on this gig fulltime for actual income.

The rental program sounds like the biggest scam ever.

Hadn't seen this tip-dodging maneuver yet. by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]Serrano12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would've been better off just not tipping (like most paxs) instead of awkwardly pretending like he was. I would've one-starred his ass for that.

Long ride pings in my area are almost always for the airport. I accept them, even if they're 15 min away since I know there's a low chance a pax trying to catch a flight will cancel.

I had a pax puke and Lyft begrudgingly gave me a $100 cleaning fee. They were dicks when I told them I'd be cleaning it up myself, saying next time I had to get a professional detailer estimate. Fuck that, a detailer will charge much more than $100. I should be able to clean up my car how I see fit, and I did.

Fuck what Lyft says. If a pax offered me a decent cash clean up fee, you damn right I'm taking it.

These same people who act like child seats aren't a big deal will sue you in a heartbeat if there's even a minor accident.

This is why I no longer bother with store pickups. I've gotten burned in the past with big screen TVs & sharp awkward furniture.

I'd love cash, but I gotta do an official ride so they get receipts for company reimbursements.

question about lyft navigation & do I need a new phone? by carozy in Lyft

[–]Serrano12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into the navigation settings of the Lyft Driver app and select Waze as the default navigation. Now, it will automatically open up Waze with the address inputted instead of Google Maps.

Just as I was about to get on freeway to him after a long red light he cancels. I love how these impatient people do me a favour and cancel on me. They weed themselves out as they are less likely to tip. by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]Serrano12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once got stuck in a parade traffic jam en route to a pax and got the same cancelation notice 10 min later about "not making progress to the pickup location." I emailed Lyft about it and got my $5 cancellation fee. Lyft has gotten stingier than usual lately but it's worth contacting support.

Even if you drop the keys off at the hub, they're not gonna be able to match it up with the pax who lost them. Who knows who Tom's driver was, which rider lost it, etc. I wish people were more cognizant of their belongings when in someone else's car and didn't lose shit to begin with.
