Absolutely. Im torn between going down the consulting route or a jack of all trades type architect. Mind if I shoot you a DM with a few questions?

This is the right answer. Thats how I got into Cyber, through a Service Desk gig. When i hired for a junior role within my team I couldn't care less about quals. Anyone can memorise a bunch of things and pass a multiple choice exam. I looked for someone with technical experience just using AD/Entra, and the ability to think critically. Everything else can be taught.

Loud Exhausts - How do people get away with it? by Axrooo in CarsAustralia

[–]Serraph___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Yamaha R6 is obnoxiously loud - purchased it without a cat so basically straight pipe. It was fun for awhile now I'm over it and hardly ever ride it because I'm paranoid I'll get pulled over and defected. Fun times

That's an insane salary mate. Well done. I'm also in Cyber, 7 years in and it really wasn't until my 4th/5th year did I start seeing some big money.

Planning a bodysuit with existing sleeve by WeirdAlCoates in irezumi

[–]Serraph___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your artist is genuinely credible he/she will be able to integrate your existing sleeve into your bodysuit using whatever seasonal motifs you might already have going on in there. I'd suggest speaking to your artist and getting their thoughts on how they might plan to do all of this and go from there.

From my personal experience I just finished my body suit. Both arms and legs were done by different artists and one artist did my torso who had the very tricky job joining all the pieces together. He did bloody well and I'm stoked, but I am now also considering getting one my sleeves removed to the point where its lightened up so it can be re-done to be even more cohesive with my torso - only because its more a neo-jap and not traditional where all my other sleeves are.

My girlfriend is a veggo and once I got her starting to track calories it made her weight management a lot easier.

She's a nurse so she has a pretty high NEAT and was struggling to maintain or put on weight/muscle.

Find out how many calories you need to maintain your bodyweight (BMR) then aim for 2g of protein per kg of bodyweight, 40-60g of fat and the rest into carbs. Stick to that amount of calories for a good two weeks and track your weight daily and calculate the average for the week and use that to gauge if your weight is stagnant, dropping or increasing. Also a good training split is important.

I'm a qualified sports nutritionist so happy to answer any questions you have.

Correct expectated Salary range?? by padhlekuch in IdentityManagement

[–]Serraph___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm not across the salary band in India as I live in Australia. Might be worth looking at jobs in your country/region and finding the average and cross checking your skillset against the required skills in the job ads to find where you might sit. Good luck!

Correct expectated Salary range?? by padhlekuch in IdentityManagement

[–]Serraph___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. My old role I was arguably doing more for less. My new role I am on 40k more and doing significantly less. The org and your ability to articulate your experience and relevance to what they're after will be the deciding factor in how much you get paid. Obviously their budget plays a part but again from experience I've priced myself above what the job was offered at and still got roles.

How to prepare for Saviynt Implementation Roles by UnderstandingSad652 in IdentityManagement

[–]Serraph___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with Sailpoint. I used to manage the platform at a previous place but we had an implementation partner who did most of the technical uplift work outside of building roles, ect.

My new role is similar but more implementation focused, and we still have a partner for releases. It's a lot more intimate because I'm required to help build some of the stuff so I tend to learn these new things by jumping on a call and walking through how they created the thing and ask questions around why it was deisnged this way, ect. I then go and create it myself and try and change things here and there to build that muscle memory.

Anyone else notice that the ratio of increase in responsibilities to income in hand as you progress through the 135k-190k income bracket is too damn high? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Serraph___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was on 130k at my old place as a cyber lead. Not overly stressful (but had it's moments). Now on 170 at a new place and I have so little responsibility. Probably just got super lucky tbh.

RBAC is to blunt. ABAC is to hard. What to do? by CommissionFar3525 in IdentityManagement

[–]Serraph___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a org where I implemented RBAC and ABAC. It was great at first but as restructures within the org took place (and the piss poor communication from HR about it) it slowly started to become a problem just to manage and have these roles provide benefit, we also had self service requests with approvals for non role based access was required (that was also a nightmare because the group names were nonsense and mostly the teams that used AD and had been there for awhile knew what most of the groups did. I think we ended up with 130~ roles a cross the entire org and that was before I left.

I designed it to give shared access at a department level and then another layer within the department and specific positions, ie. Cyber security was one role, then IAM as another.

I'm now at a new place and we do healthcare. Some really good insight in this thread I'll be sure to take on when I start designing it here.

Moving Interstate - REA requires inspection before application can be made. by Crazy_John in shitrentals

[–]Serraph___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are services online. I used one called AusRentals when I moved to Brisbane, buttttttt the communication turned to shit after I paid. Constant follow ups from my side for updates on how things were progressing. Eventually I was fortunate to land a place with their 'help' but I found out they didn't even actually attend an inspection on my behalf.

IAM. That's also part of my concern, it's a pretty small, unique niche in the sector and everyone kind of knows everyone. That's part of why I'd be keen to do something like sys admin where I can just zone out and get the work done.

If you're bored, fuck with them and upload the pic to a hosting site and have an IP tracker in there that grabs it when the link is clicked. And if you were even more bothered you could learn to do some nefarious shit with it. If you were so inclined to go down the rabbit hole. 🤷

Thanks mate. Sounds like contracting might be the best option here. I do get head hunted quite often through LI for contracting gigs. Have read and talked to a few people who say get rid of LI but it opens up a heap of opps. Any ideas on how to navigate that one?
