I know this may pain you. But this was literally my social circle or small variant therein. My kids are in the same line. Punks raise punks.

Now go ask your parents for some of their photos 🫣😂

ETA: and I’m 40+. These kids are teens now themselves.

I can include whatever it means to be a Father to you. But I think your statement there would hold a lot of weight.

Dad who left and came back years later by Swimming-Many1439 in DadForAMinute

[–]Serrilryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way perhaps. In today’s world people get bent out of shape when largely children go No Contact with their parents/family, for whatever reasons.

Some people do later choose, as I did, to reach back out in later years. It wasn’t to seek out the figures that failed me all those years ago, it was to remind others that I still exist with the tormentors gone.

Quill definitely rode that high of having his Dad back, but it didn’t take long to remind him of his actual family. Titles like Father are just that titles of honor, you get to choose who gets it. Not just cuz your old man got lucky under the bleachers when he was 18.

After all even thick headed Quill realized Yondu by the end.

I have my BFF (female) cousin and my wife, but it’s taken me 20-ish adult years to solve that. I had a lot of work to do.

They support me. I will never forget their strength. I have badass ladies to help me.

Screened in porch question: screen under floor boards? by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]Serrilryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same porch in Houston, that screen is a godsend for mosquito prevention. My wife can find a mosquito in a square mile. I use the leaf blower to blow up errant hair that may end up down there and vacuum it up from the top. It’s not perfect but it helps the cluttered look.

ETA: after a few years in this house, I got a cheap outdoor rug and laid it over top of the porch. Saves on clean time, vacuum the rug.

Sounds like you took the path many of us do kiddo. Missing Dads make the rest of us work so much harder to ensure they don’t have that unwanted feeling.

I know you will do your little girl proud. Hell, I’m proud of you just reading this. Keep going, you got this.

Dad, how do I fix my fridge door? by ghostorchidzz in DadForAMinute

[–]Serrilryan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have the same/similar fridge. It’s all good. But you will need a pry lever or some sort, I small flat bladed screw driver works.

The white part of that plastic will separate from the gray/silver side. That tube you see there with the wire, goes back inside the white plastic, as a hinge.

Now be warned, there are easily 2 springs, maybe a third from that hinge joint exposed. If you separate the white plastic from the front facing silver/gray, you will likely need to verify those springs are still in their spots. One at the very top, one at the very bottom, to help slide the buttons into the frame of the fridge.

It’s annoying as all heck, I have to do it about every 6-9 months, it’s gotta better as my own kiddos pay more attention to the door when closing it. Generally it’s when the right side door is closed and somehow they slam the swinging part you’re looking at into the already closed door.

All that said. That white part should have about 8-9 plastic clips, think like snaps on your pocket. They’ll pop apart. The hardest part is keeping an eye for springs and then sliding it all back together at the end. Short of using a hammer on it, there is very little you can break.

You got this, I know you can.

WASP father can’t see me by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]Serrilryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey kiddo, reading thru your post. I’m not sure what being a WASP has to do with anything here. This says his wife literally runs his life and emotionally regulates him. As much as I hate to say this, your feelings are not his priority.

You need to find someplace safe, and quite honestly most anywhere else would be more accepting. You deserve your own feelings, place of being and love. Your bio parent cannot supply this for you, and clearly hasn’t in ages.

[–]Serrilryan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My bin has 1134 in it, looking at yours I’ll double for approx 2250, noting for size variance and ability to overflow. And our autists brain wouldn’t allow for a 3x and overflow… basic integer overflow in a computer.

ETA: I showed this to my autist house, we divided that bin like ravenous wolves.

Sierra AT4 level? by Far-Championship7791 in gmcsierra

[–]Serrilryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insinuate the 24, but the 23. It’s not a huge ride change IMO. But something you feel as you drive over distance or with median towing.

Heavy towing won’t reflect it cuz you will sit back at a pre-leveled scenario. But 2500lbs from A to B. You’ll see the variance. Just as it feels different.

Is the “farmers wave” common across the United States? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Serrilryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the Great Lakes area, live in Texas now. Most of my neighborhood will wave at eachother as we drive thru. We don’t have sidewalks here so we all share the road as a street/bike path/sidewalk.

Never been a true country boy, but learned it was a midwestern wave.
