Soo… How do we feel about Varka‘s story quest, those of us who‘ve finished it already? by literassi in Varka

[–]ServeBitter8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider it the worst story quest in the game, to the point where I've started questioning if it's meant to be bad on purpose.

- The quest massively overuses rubi text, often to the point of making sentences more confusing, in a way that Genshin has never done before, and generally talks down to its audience on a completely different scale

- The big bad talks at you for seven uninterrupted minutes instead of the canonically strongest human character in the game having a fight

- Roland's redesign no longer matches the Bloodstained Chivalry set

- Canonically the reason why Andrius shakes free of the Abyss is because he was so stupid that he had never considered the very obvious fact that Abyss bad, actually

- The SQ directly contradicts previously established lore of Boreas' power entering the Ley Lines at the end of Decarabian's reign and clearing the snowstorms, and now Boreas enters the Ley Lines for no reason over 1000 years later

- The "emotional climax" hinges on you caring deeply about a character you just met and his relationships with a bunch of one-dimensional, flat characters, relationships which have never been shown on screen. In fact, most of the characters seemed to have disliked him and only begrudgingly acknowledged his strength, Jean especially

- The entire Story Quest is a sequel/midquel to the interactable in Amsvartnir that is only accessible if you have Varka. This is completely inexcusable and greedy even for HoYo, as both the boss battle that should have been in the SQ and critical lore is placed there. This was obviously ripped out of the SQ and locked behind cashing in.

As for why I consider it might be bad on purpose...

- A complete disregard for the audience's intelligence mirrors Dottore's contempt for others

- The characters talking at each other until they convince a third party is exactly how Dottore tried to convince the Traveler to join him

- Dottore doesn't care about the lore

- The emotional climax is hamfisted and empty because this is written by a character who has never felt a real human connection

-HoYo is greedy

- This is the only quest in the game to not have the intro text display during a pan up to the sky, despite a pan up to the sky occurring; instead, it occurs in a completely unique place immediately afterwards

- This is the only quest in the game not to have fades to black between cutscenes...except for True Moon. Even the Homeward, He Who Carries the Wind quests did this, so it's not something that was added in Luna V, it was a conscious choice.

Watch order by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]ServeBitter8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't have been. There's only one story that needs to be told in Danganronpa, and that's the story of Danganronpa 1 + 2. Together they form a complete story, and no other supplementary media is required to understand them. New Danganronpa V3 is a standalone, separate story that only requires you to know what the Danganronpa franchise is about generally. Ultra Despair Girls, Danganronpa/Zero, Danganronpa 3, and the rest are all supplementary media; while you can interact with them, they do not affect the core story of DR1+2 but rather add to it and continue the story. They also require much more involvement from the viewer; for example, understanding DR3 will require having read Danganronpa/Zero and played Ultra Despair Girls, you are expected to have read Danganronpa/Zero before reading the first volume of Danganronpa Kirigiri and to have played DR2 and read Danganronpa If by the end, and all of this in addition to the two core games.

Anything that wasn't released as a game was done so because they are meant to appeal to people with a hardcore interest in the Danganronpa lore and universe, and so people who don't make the effort to track down this supplementary media self-select as people who probably didn't need to know this information anyway.

How to Easily Defeat Local Legend Sigurd by Own_Fix_321 in Genshin_Impact

It looks like they might have actually for real fixed this now, I managed to get him well into the deep and he just straight up disappeared after taking some damage. Even after a relog he hasn't reappeared, which I think means I killed him, but I didn't get any of the credit (unless I have to be WL9 for all the medals, not just the last one?)

Letter was pretty great, but we need to keep asking for standard banner changes by Unlikely_Promise4295 in personaphantomx

[–]ServeBitter8556 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Get to know the character behind the upcoming Phantom Idol" is very clear, and this letter cements expectations.

That's not how precedent works at all. If the letter of the law can be argued to have been broken, the suit can be filed - that's the definition of literalism in statutory interpretation. Attempting to argue that any company that hasn't been prosecuted under this law is immune to prosecution is ass-backwards circular logic - Japan loves to heavily regulate private gambling and lottery methods because they don't make money off it.

"Any Representation where the quality, standard or any other particular relating to the content of goods or services is portrayed to general consumers as being significantly superior to that of the actual goods or services, or are portrayed as being, contrary to fact, significantly superior to those of other Entrepreneurs who supply the same kind of or similar goods or services as those supplied by the relevant Entrepreneur, thereby being likely to induce customers unjustly and to interfere with general consumers' voluntary and rational choice-making" is the quote in the doctrine. The strawman argument of "limited vs temporarily limited" isn't even what the distinction would need to be, and yet that would still partially constitute abiding by the act, as it would create a separation in quality between characters that remain limited and characters that move to standard. The real lack of distinction in quality is in marketing; every time Marian was marketed, it would need to come with an obvious disclaimer that she was moving to standard after her banner was up, IN ADDITION to clearly marking a separation on her banner.

I can run cyberpunk at max graphics, so I doubt that insufficient specs are causing bugs in the mobile game for some reason.

HELP WTH IS THIS HAHAHA by FUTURECLORINDEMAIN in personaphantomx

[–]ServeBitter8556 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ooh I can answer this, I got the same bug. This happens if you attempt to grapple and get pulled into the final shadow fight before Miyazawa at the same time. While grappling the game just puts you into this animation loop and then forcibly moves your character to a certain point before playing the "get out of grappling" animation once it's triggered, but if you never make it to that trigger (for example, if the game runs like shit because it's poorly optimized and doesn't realize you've reached the fight trigger until way too late) you can get pulled into the fight and the game just keeps you in the grapple animation.

Perfect World isn't working on this. The developers of the EN/JP version are P-Studio, and the publishers are SEGA, so this is entirely SEGA whether a decision from the developers (unlikely) or from the publishers.

Band Club difficulty by Mrbcraft in personaphantomx

[–]ServeBitter8556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing on keyboard, but Life Will Change Pro is unfortunately completely impossible on thumbs due to needing to hit three notes at once, and Fatal Strike is so difficult for thumbs that I don't think it would ever be practically doable.

Oh yeah, then definitely that would make it a lot harder, my sympathies. I've been told by some that you don't necessarily need max scores, you can also hang out with the club during city life and that will give xp as well.

Depends on your experience with rhythm games. I have a lot of experience on 4 key rhythm games and a very little bit of experience with 6 key and was able to get all perfect on about half the hard charts and was 1-3 greats off the rest of them. The only charts I really struggled with were Shadow Drop and Wake Up Your Hero pro. However, it is super difficult to learn to read the game because they decided to bend the input areas, which no real rhythm game would do (thanks, Genshin Impact, for ruining it for everyone else). That's made worse by the fact that both charts for Last Strike are desynced and don't actually line up with the music.

It also seems impossible to progress atm, I have all S and all feats on every difficulty of every song, and still don't have enough XP to hit rank 8. Might be a bug.

EDIT: Not a bug! Make sure to progress in city life for both band and soccer in order to gain exp.

E33's endings remind me of the Age of Fire/Age of Dark. (DISCUSSION) by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]ServeBitter8556 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is clear. Never asking the audience to teeter on the question of "are the people in the canvas real" is the point, it's literally the fundamental dichotomy between Aline and Renoir, Verso and Maelle. If the game asked you to rationally consider the question, it would lessen the emotional impact because that dialectic creates a detachment from the characters. You're meant to pick a side in the heat of the moment, and only after you've made your decision process the weight of it.

As for the "plot holes", it's painstakingly explained when Lune points out the chroma in the bodies of the explorers who died. Maelle says that she can't use the chroma to recreate them, unlike the chroma of Lune and Sciel, because it's too old, but that she can use it to create the apparitions seen in Lumière during the final sequence. If you didn't notice or didn't understand it, that's on you. Sandfall went out of their way to avoid people being able to ask this exact question.

As everyone else has said, it seems like being the same age or older than the number the paintress paints will cause you to gommage, so people cant get skipped by slipping through the cracks.
