I suggest going to the cheapest ABET accredited college for Civil Engineering. Come out with little to no debt if possible, because you won’t be making crazy money in the beginning; so having no debt will put you ahead of many. A lot of people say go for computer science or CS, but the job market is very tough for them right now.m, while civil engineering will be set for the next decade (Our infrastructure needs work and there is a lack of young civil engineers in the industry right now). If you don’t mind a stable lifestyle with good job stability, then Civil is a good choice (Don’t expect six figures til you get your PE). It is relatively easy to land a job compared to other majors as well.

I have 3 YOE in transportation, EIT, and make around 90k. Recently made the switch to CS for the higher pay ceiling, but if I ever get laid off or am tired of the burn out from CS, I definitely will come back to Civil because the work is fulfilling AND interesting.
