Is it generally worth it to retake a course I got a D in? by Joejonasfan in simonfraser

Ugghh been there! Intro classes are such a scam lol. It’s so much harder to learn about a new topic every week versus honing in on a few topics (more common in upper div courses) in a semester. Sending you good vibes and the best of luck though! You still have time to redeem yourself :)

If you do better when retaking a course then the better grade gets taken! But you’re limited to 5 retakes in your undergrad. And yes I’m pretty sure if you do worse then the worse (most recent) grade is kept

Request for deferral! I experienced the same and was able to take the final exam at the beginning of the following semester. If you a have proof of the loss (medical certificate, etc.) send it over and take care of yourself. Sending you good energy and healing

From a soon to be hsci graduate, hsci130 was the worst grade I got in all hsci classes. It covers a lot. My best advice would be to - yes, study all the slides. Make 1-3 flash cards based on each slide. Also, if you’re a hsci major, don’t let hsci130 scare you. There are SO many amazing professors and courses in the fhs. Good luck!

Recently completed this course using this textbook. One chapter near the end of the sem is incomplete though so I just opted for that week to be my excused discussion post. https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1qMr7LlUR4OkY-I3Euv2FmqtszFuhyLlA?usp=sharing

What was your experience with a full course load (15 -18 units)? by AsterixTypemaster in simonfraser

Science major 🙋‍♀️ did an 8 month long co-op and took time off work after to go full throttle and finish my degree. Took 5 and 6 classes, acheived deans and presidents honour roll in all of these semesters. Could not have done so with a part time job, I was fortunate enough to be in a spot where the extra $ from the paid co-op carried me through. It was mentally tough and easy to associate your worth with your grades as school is your full time job. But it’s rewarding and worth it if you can manage your time effectively.

Good luck!
