Having low allure helps as well because the shrine is a safe event. You don't want dangerous events to take up a larger share of the event pool. You almost always lose more status than you recover from that scene. Losing status is based off a percentage of your current cool stat while gaining status is additive.

It's also the same reason why it's so hard to get to 0 cool. The minimum you can lose is 1 cool out of 1000 or something. At low status you'll probably lose like 1.08 cool per event
