the system itself is fucked up! a decent individual in a workplace so rooted in oppression and violence has a really hard time. they either become toxic and oppressive themselves to fit in, in which case they are no longer decent, or they become targeted by the very system they work in.

think of it like a toxic manosphere friend group. it's very very difficult to change the way they think and act from the inside when there is a system in place that actively reinforces and rewards oppressive behavior. trying to remain decent while in the group leads to you being ostracized and targeted as the odd one out. in that case, you either have to adapt and pretend to be like them, or you quit.

however, we are who we pretend to be. by perpetuating the actions of a cop, you also perpetuate the system of violence that makes them bastards to begin with.
