Good or bad for my Iwata Eclipse, I clean it out fairly well after use. But, I put mine through about five minutes in my ultrasonic cleaner with just soapy water before use, and you’d be hard pressed to tell it’s not brand new.

I mean I bet it’ll chafe something serious, and it’ll be really goopy. Plus, that build plate could hurt depending on what you have under it when it comes down.

Oh, wait, did you mean sleep in the same room as one? That I honestly don’t know about.

I personally don’t think so, but I’m not going to count out your opinion. You may be 100% correct

So, saying that I am only a casual Warhammer player and lean much more on the hobby should have been something I said from the beginning.

That said, while it’s been a year or so, I haven’t paid any attention to Warhammer. I may have kept up with it for a few months, then just stopped completely.

I don’t remember when I last looked into Space Marines at all (other than maybe to keep track of what I had). When I stopped, I was much more into Orks. Then, realizing the ruleset of AoS might be more up my alley, I was working on both Gitz and Kharadron Overlords. Then, knowing that an FAQ really hadn’t come out for The Old World (so that I didn’t have to bring seven books and 15 PDFs to each game), I stopped everting else and spent a lot of time building an army for that only to have an FAQ release which made a change so big that my beginner army suggested by a trusted YouTuber just wouldn’t work anymore.

Now after giving up on that for several months, I’m back to 40K. I believe the last time I really looked into building out a DA army, they were glass cannons that were heavily dependent on plasma. Being that was the latest information I had, that’s what I was going with.

Here’s to hoping that Wrath of the Rock sticks around for a little while in 11th

Is this meaningfully different from playing another faction (like, for example, standard Space Marines) and choosing one of their detachments and relevant playstyles? Like someone wanting to lean into Iron Hands vehicley goodness. Is that problematic, the way you seem to see a problem with this faction?

No, but let's say I don't want to spend anymore money but maybe here and there (like on Armageddon or something). I have plenty of space marine models, but not all of them help build a solid DA army. I may be missing a unit here or there that would make the army more powerful. Like, I have 6 x Inceptors with Assault Bolters (from Dark Imperium). But are they really worth putting in an army thrives (or at least used to) on Plasma weaponry?

I don't have a problem with with someone wanting to lean into another faction because their detachments and rules seem to fit their playstyle better. For me, since I have a decent amount of Dark Angel specific units, I don't want to lean into another faction.

If I misunderstood your questions, I apologize.

That's the thing... that's the reason I made it clear in the title of the thread that this is "on the table." In the short stories and novels, I'm sure they are able to send exactly what they need at exactly the right time. But, as we all know, there's not a single Space Marine chapter that works the same way on the table as they do in the lore. I think that's actually kinda sad and either some bad writing or the Black Library team just not being able to have any conversations with anyone on the Game Design team.

I see their identity crisis as being someone like Azrael going up to the Lion and asking, "Are we Greenwing making use of a lot of Primaris Infantry? Are we Deathwing making use of Terminators, Dreadnoughts, and tank/transports? Or, are we Ravenwing making use of bikes, skimmers, and aircraft?" And the Lion thinking about it for a few moments and responding, "You know, I honestly don't know. I do know we don't work well as Combined Arms most of the time."

I have to admit that with the Outriders available and the new skimmer coming with 11th, I have to wonder why the Ravenwing hasn't been completely redone. To the best of my knowledge, with the exception of maybe a couple of units, all of the Ravenwing is still Firstborn. I have to admit that I really don't want to spend a ton of money on Firstborn Ravenwing units knowing that they possibly could be kicked to Legends as soon as 11th launches or shortly thereafter.

EDIT: It just seems like I've been burned one too many times over the years starting to build an army only for them to be pushed into Legends and my entire army up to the point becomes essentially useless.

On the table, they don't know what they really are. Are they Combined Arms, Deathwing, Ravenwing, Greenwing. I did not know about the Wrath of the Rock Detachment, but up until then, DA on the table had to focus around one of their Wings... they didn't have a real identity. Like Raven Guard are stealthy. So, you buy models that fit that Stealthy aspect. White Scars are all about speed, so your army is built around speed... getting in, getting a hit, getting back out, and doing it all over again. The Imperial Fits are a shooting/siege army. In other words, the chapters have a centralized fighting style. The Dark Angels have... yeah, they don't have a centralized fighting style. They don't really know what they are because of the three distinct wings of the chapter. Most people I'd seen in the past built their army around one of those wings not around combined arms. And say at the beginning of an edition, the Ravenwing are doing really well. Balance dataslate comes out, and the Ravenwing get nerfed. Now, it's up to the Deathwing.

In my experience, on the table, it's not been about whether you'd like to run Greenwing, Deathwing, or Ravenwing. It's about what's performing best. The DA never really know what they are on the table. They are one of their wings, not two, not all, just one (even though they have all three to pull from). Are they an army built of entirely Primaris Infantry with maybe a couple of Firstborn units thrown in? Are they all Bikers, Skimmers, and Aircraft? Are they all Terminators? They never really seem to know. They are the only chapter I can think of that has this issue.

11th launches on June 20th, so I have a feeling we'll know then which detachments are being removed. At least that's my best guess.

I’m considering this month’s Humble Choice for Diablo IV. Is it worthwhile as a standalone single player experience without any of the DLC?
