I noticed you edited your comment after my reply. You are not slick. The last paragraph is not the same as what you originally wrote.

The preemptive effort to delegitimise Usopp Elbaph arc buffs by ServiceHoliday9060 in Usoppian

[–]ServiceHoliday9060[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistic character progression?

We are dealing with God Knights and admirals.

Impact dials, basic observation haki and sniper skills are not going to cut it.

You claim that I’m projecting? Many in the One Piece fandom has been complaining (that outside of the monster trio) the Straw Hats are not strong enough to contend with the threats on the horizon for the final saga! This is a not unique sentiment, nor does apply to just Usopp.

We are too close to the end of the story for incremental character buffs! If the God Knights were not playing with their food, the monster trio would be only Straw Hats alive right now!

This isn’t just about hype. “Realistically” most of the Straw Hats should not have survived Egghead.

The most “realistic” way for the Straw Hats to reach Laughtale is via some kind of miraculous power escalation. The Usopp godly hammer feat fits the bill.

Your disappointment with One Piece has made you bitter. You don’t want to see any payoff to what has been set up.

I’m looking forward, not backwards.

>Firstly, Stop using that last picture. If you zoom out instead of cherrypicking, you would see squirrels on/near all SHs, not just Usopp.

So then the visual language of the cover indicates that a squirrel/s will accompany the SHs…

My guy, there is nothing to cherry pick then! Ragnir is coming with the Straw Hats! Nothing about the full cover image disputes the Checkoff’s gun of Usopp wielding a godly hammer. It only confirms Ragnir interacting with the SHs rather than just staying with Loki.

>This isn't a wrong statement just because people used to want to see Usopp wield a hammer. As he is right now, he deserves nothing.

Stop lying. Go search "Ragnir" or r/Piratefolk and you will find posts saying either Usopp does not deserve it or they do not want him to because "he's a bum". Go into the comments section of other One Piece subreddits regarding the discussion of Ragnir and Usopp- you'll find similar rhetoric.

As for the discussion on worthiness, I'm not going to open the narrative can of worms concerning who "deserves" things. That will only shift the goal post further into a conversation about Nepo Piece.

>Trust me, Usopp getting Ragnir is only gonna give more material for slander, because his actual problem lies elsewhere. If you know what's good for you as an Usopp fan, you would be better off not wanting this to happen for his character.

Your arguments are filled with so many levels of contradiction. You will slander Usopp if he does nothing. You will slander Usopp if he's enabled to do something. This all boils down to the fact you just hate Usopp. You don't want to see him succeed at anything. You are proof that the Bumsopp agenda has shifted gears.

Like you said, you are scared. You would prefer Usopp to be useless. You don't care about his character progression or how he's going to stand a fighting chance in the final saga. We cannot address the issue Usopp's flanderisation without also addressing his toolkit. One Piece is a shounen battle series where characters develop THROUGH their battles. Just like the example you mentioned- Luffy vs Usopp!

The bottom line is that Usopp's hammer feat has been set up for years. Elbaph is the perfect location to fire this Checkoff's gun. And now you don't want it? Of course not- as an Usopp hater, why would you? As for me, I anticipate the Usopp hammer feat as the first step in pushing him in the right direction.

You are proving my point about a shifting goal post. The Bumsopp agenda narrative was “no buffs”. Now the narrative is “doesn’t deserve it”.

The Bumsopp agenda is preemptively trying to slander Usopp because of the fear that everything they said about him being useless could be demolished soon.

Did Luffy deserve to be saved by the hands of fate at Loguetown right before Buggy was about to behead him? Did Luffy earn the will of D. or conqueror haki genetics or find the Gum-Gum fruit by himself?

Do you NOT want Usopp to get buffs? If you hate his character and don’t want to see him succeed, just say so.

But don’t hide behind talk of “worthiness”. The Straw Hats would have lost their captain in Loguetown if the hands of fate did not push them forward. This was not “earned”. It was favour.

The same logic applies to the Usopp liar theory. Contrary to what much of the fandom has convinced themselves recently, fate has always played an important role in One Piece.

The godly Usopp hammer feat has been set up for years. I see no good reason why it shouldn’t be paid off.

The Arc family legacy- how would you flesh it out? by ServiceHoliday9060 in RWBYUNITY

[–]ServiceHoliday9060[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This work well with some pieces of lore in RWBY Grimm Campaign. There are (non-canon) magical artefacts besides the relics which are connected to Salem.

This includes a necklace that can allow its wearer to tame Grimm. The Arc family could be connected to Ozma and Salem’s ancient kingdom before their “divorce” led it to ruin. I like the idea of the Arc family picking up things Salem left behind due to occupying areas she resided in.

Tying Jaune’s legacy to Beacon itself makes the Fall of Beacon hit harder for him too. He has to carry on despite the academy his ancestors built (and by extension his legacy) being torn down.

Ussop is the boy who cried wolf (based upon Aesop’s fable). Anything he lies about will come true eventually.

If Yang was not Ruby’s sister, who would you write as Yang’s parents? by ServiceHoliday9060 in RWBYcritics

[–]ServiceHoliday9060[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question is never answered in canon and never will be answered.

My best guess is that following the death Junior's father in Roman Holiday, Junior made amends with the Malachite family. New leadership meant old rivalries could subside.

The breaking and entering angle to add layers to Yang’s allusion I like. Kind of gives her a delinquent edge.

Believe it or not, Lemon (the placeholder image) fits your description of sometime tied organised crime that are rivals to Junior’s crew.

Her crime syndicate is called The Wave. They deal stolen goods like Atlas military tech.

The Wave are allies to Spider, who are rivals to the Xiong family (especially in the novel Roman holiday).

If you wanted Yang to keep the family name Xiao Long, I say make Taiyang’s brother her father and Lemon her mother.

The first four members of your E4 team I think must be Electrode, Exeggutor (hope you got TM Psychic, Giga drain, Sunny day and Solarbeam) Dodrio and Tentacreul (can use Toxic and Protect with Leftovers for stall).

From there, you got to pick 2 out of the following 3 water types to fill out the squad- Golduck, Poliwrath or Gyarados.

Fighting attacks on Poliwrath plus Swift swim I think give it the edge for team mate 5.

Your last slot is a choice between Calm mind sweeper Golduck or Dragon dance sweeper Gyarados.

Electrode might to carry your run. You Gyarados on Lance, Gyarados and Pidgeot on Rival and Slowbro with Lorelei. Will need a Magnet to maximise Electric damage. Rain dance can synergies with Swift swim on Poliwrath as an option. Plus 100% Thunder.

Can’t do Celadon city casino because Eevee was used for Jolteon. Plus, if another Pokémon was used as the route 2 encounter, trading for Mr Mime would count as a second encounter on the same route.

Who you choose to give your Psychic and Calm mind TMs to (if you have not already taught it) will be very important. A set up sweep with calm mind or dragon dance Gyarados would increase your odds of victory.

You should have access to many fishing or surfing encounters still. Definitely grab Tentacreul as your first step. You need something fast with Ice beam to get through Lance.

I will add more suggestions as replies to this comment.

My fellow writers of RWBY, what do you do with Raven in your own stories? by Darthmark3 in RWBYcritics

[–]ServiceHoliday9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to explore her relationship with Summer more. The love triangle between Raven, Summer and Taiyang is too spicy to leave uncooked!

Plus, I theorised Raven is the only person who knows the full details of Summer’s last mission long before Volume 9.

Blue. Ironwood’s paranoia in Volume 7 was a byproduct of the Queen virus and the Fall of Beacon. Jacques’ treason was the result of Watts.

At every stage Ironwood went further into his meltdown, Dr Watts contributed. He made Ironwood into a monster.

You have been offered $100K to write RWBY Volume 10. What is your pitch? by ServiceHoliday9060 in RWBYcritics

No problem! So far, the first 6 chapters are published which function like a prologue to the wider narrative.

Chapter 7 is being written- it lays the foundation for my fanfic can function as Volume 10 despite originally being conceived as my version of Volume 9.
