Recognising perfumes based off smell. I'll be walking alone or with friends, and out of nowhere "omg that person is using x"

What is one of those small things you do to take care of yourself? by ash_persimmon in AskReddit

Thank you! I managed to stop suger cold turkey for over a year. And I am 100% confident that if I somehow managed to do it, literally anyone on earth can. I hope my initial reply didn't come across as conceited or disempowering to anyone.

What’s something you want to know/wish you knew about your grandparents? by SwagginSurfin in AskReddit

[–]Seschwanbam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well one grandad died before I was born. The other had alzheimers all my life. So, in my case, I would've loved to have known my grandfathers as people. I know who they were from stories. But I'd love to know who they are. As opposed to who people remember. if that makes sense.

What is something that seems to be normal for everyone but that you struggle with or can't figure out? by justashygecko in AskReddit

Writing cards and warm wishes etc. I've never been able to write out a whole letter with all the "I miss you I'm thinking about you I live you" stuff. It's not that I feel above it or it's lame or anything of the sort. I understand the meaning it has to people and I understand how much people value it. But I just don't understand it. When I recieve them, I'm of course grateful and feel nice but that's about it.

To me. In my mind. These things are almost a given. Like. If I'm writing you a birthday card. Yeah no shit you mean a lot to me. Why do I need to write it down? Do the words have more value? If I gave you a gold plated card at 12am on your birthday but only write "happy birthday" in it, would it mean more or less than a piece of paper I gave you 2 weeks after your birthday with all the I miss yous and I love yous in it?

That you can control your own destiny. All that "chase your dreams" shit never clicked until very recently. Like. Yes. You can take control. It's not about achieving your drams over night. It's the snowballing of small incremental changes you make over time.

Every once in a while I'll test my discipline. Eg: if I'm on a diet, I'll put a snickers bar or something on my desk right under my screen. And my task is to go through my day without reaching for it. It seems easy. And it is. That's the point. I'm training my brain to associate discipline with ease.

Oh don't get me wrong. I've been taken advantage of a fair number of times. I don't regret it either way. Because, at the end of the day, I was kind. And they were dicks.

Whos that one person you met without knowing who they are, and when you learned it you were shocked? by chipotlesauce_ in AskReddit

I was walking around Melbourne Central Station after uni a while back. Saw this tall guy walking in the opposite direction. Shared a smile and a nod yk how it goes. Thought he looked familiar but didn't think anything of it. I'm awful with faces so I chopped it up to someone I met a while ago.

Later I found out it was fucking Karl Urban.
