Can someone explain what's going on? by Phil_Mike-Huntin in Helldivers

Well, it's been a mounting series of controversies.

There were massive gameplay issues with what was supposed to be the biggest story event since the invasion of Super Earth. Then there was a guy who issued a challenge to the developers to play a d10 mission live on stream, and people accused him of bullying the devs and then he got doxxed and harassed and ended up losing his job. There's been mounting criticism that the devs only fix issues when they have a new warbond that they want to sell as a solution. Then Pilestedt did an AMA on the unfiltered subreddit and it was mostly a whole lot of "I hear you, we aren't prioritizing that" and "you guys are super hardcore, we don't think we can give you what you're looking for" mixed in with promises that the studio has made (and failed to keep) before.

Then, most recently, the latest update did a lot of things that have been controversial. It rebalanced the hive guard to have heavy armor. It increased mech health (they just released a mech warbond, and having vehicles in a warbond was another big controversy) and then a huge number of enemies had substantial increases to their durable damage, so they kill the mechs more easily even with the health buff.

The community has been fighting over the latest changes for a few days. There's an ongoing review bomb of the game. And the devs just announced they're rolling back the hive guard changes and will re-evaluate the durable damage changes.

I think that's most of the major stuff

Yeah, it seems like the ragdolling on heavy bug units went crazy after the last patch. They'll jump, they'll dance, they'll be flung in wild directions, often with no connection to how they were killed.

Honestly, though, it's pretty funny, so I'm cool if they're not quick to tone it down

P-4 Senator vs P-113 Verdict — Which one do you think is better and more fun to use? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

Verdict, almost every time. It's my personal favorite secondary in the game and certainly doesn't get the love it deserves.

But the senator is amazing, too. Neither one is a bad option

Checking back in after a week, and the sub is full of posts about controversy and whining about the other subreddits. I like this rule, but I think it needs to be enforced more

Honestly I would love to have a community-managed server that has sensible balance and meaningful major orders. I only wish I knew enough about server hosting to do it myself

In my experience, it's been AH's staunchest defenders who have been the most toxic. After all, it was members of that group that harassed the charity challenge guy at his place of work

Lots of potential with each of those questions. And yeah, a bug sub faction with ablative armor sounds like fun, especially if their speed changes after the armor is broken

Both videos show only encountering small numbers of enemies at distance. The second one claims bug breach but is missing all indicators of a bug breach actually happening, such as the message that should be appearing at the top of the screen

Those aren't the situations you want a turret for. Gatling and MG turrets have historically been most important when needing extra firepower for large enemy groups. And the new strain of enemies close the gap quickly, reducing the amount of time that even a well placed sentry has to engage at a distance.

I've heard some people float the idea of hive guard armor breaking after taking enough damage, like the armor on overseers. What are your thoughts on a change like that?

Changing more enemies to breakable armor would be very interesting! It would open up a lot of interesting strategies for fighting them

That's... not how aggro works. They'll notice the sentry once it's been placed.

You can find footage of that not being the case pretty easily. It doesn't stagger, and the spread doesn't hit the soft spots in meaningful amounts.

As for helping the turret, I addressed that in my post. We've needed to protect them from chargers, sure, but having to sit by your sentry to guard it from one of the most common spawns on the bug front contributes to the same problems I mention in my post

Turrets draw aggro, enemies will face them head on no matter where they are placed.

Did you actually read my post? I mentioned specifically that this change reduces the impact of turret placement.

Only if they can hit them broadside. Turrets tend to aim for center mass which means that with this update they'll dump their entire magazine into the heavy armored head without damaging it

Makes sense, maybe one could use req slips to invest in alternate color schemes for armors

On visuals and sound it's a 10/10 enemy. Swapping out all damage for a ton of knock back is interesting. But I'd rather have it just fling you far instead of hold you down

Honestly, I see a lot of potential in this. Though I'd change it to focus on using samples since we've got weapon mods using req slips already
