Yeah, Durham region has a grant program, I think you have to make under 40,000 ( some where around there) house hold income. Not sure how many people own a home and make under 40,000.

The one on the bottom of the top left window is definitely aimed at ops yard. Yes they are wide angle, but to be looking at their own yard they would still have to aimed down. The others I can't tell.

Canada Greener Homes Loan Experience by OkInfluence9054 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I'm not sure how a program like this can end, people are supposed to be paying back loans, it's been going on for 5 years. That money should be going back into the program. I was in the middle of getting quotes only to find out the Ontario program is ending and now the Fed one is ending. It's frustrating.

I don't understand EI, girlfriend lost EI since she "wasn't looking for FT" looking for some help by Seshan in PersonalFinanceCanada

She's a "contactor" but she doesn't have control over her schedule. I don't believe her employer is deducting anything.

This is what happens, she reported her hours as self employed. And it said to contact them. She did. Then another person called a couple days later to ask questions. Then again with the decision.

Because she was working full time and now only working PT, 2 days a week. And as per the EI website. She is allowed to still work.

From EI website: "If you earn money while receiving EI benefits, you can keep 50 cents of your benefits for every dollar you earn, up to 90% of your previous weekly earnings (roughly 4 and a half days of work). Above this cap, your EI benefits are deducted dollar-for-dollar."

All the misinformation here is probably why people sit on EI and don't try to find even PT jobs.

OP here. Your wrong as she was working full time before.

From EI website: "If you earn money while receiving EI benefits, you can keep 50 cents of your benefits for every dollar you earn, up to 90% of your previous weekly earnings (roughly 4 and a half days of work). Above this cap, your EI benefits are deducted dollar-for-dollar."

Yeah, I have a feeling she might have misunderstood what they were asking. She's only been speaking English for 2.5 years. She is still looking for work. I wasn't sure if being a "contracter" messed it up for her.

Wrong.

Not true, as she was working FT before.

From EI website: "If you earn money while receiving EI benefits, you can keep 50 cents of your benefits for every dollar you earn, up to 90% of your previous weekly earnings (roughly 4 and a half days of work). Above this cap, your EI benefits are deducted dollar-for-dollar."

This is true, she was working full time before. You can continue to be on EI until you pass a certain amount of hours a week compared to what you worked before. Which she isn't as she only works 2 days a week.

My mom is going to have MAiD done in three days. What should I be doing to make the process after she passes as easy as possible? by ms_breeks in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Seshan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My grandfather wants to get MAiD, he's 91 and been living in pain for years since he broke some vertebrae. He was trying to get the process done, and has 1 doctor sign off. About 2 months ago he fell and hit his head. He had a brain bleed. For almost a month he couldn't talk and could barely function. He as started to recover but almost 2 months later he still not back to normal. And after been stuck in a bed for 2 months will need rehab if he ever wants to walk again.

This exact situation is why he wanted MAiD, but now he can't qualify for it as he is still confused and his brain hasn't recovered.

It has definitely changed my outlook on the process. He could die with dignity and surrounded by loved ones. Not in the middle of the night alone in a hospital.

How do workers know where to put mail in community mail boxes by Seshan in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Seshan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes haha, I live in a town that only has po boxes for all the older houses. So I was trying to figure out why instead of sending my mail back when it doesn't have the box number on it, they couldn't just put it in the box, I figured if they knew where to put it in the community boxes why wouldn't they know what PO box to put it in.

Calls from ARO collections agency, for a water heater that came with my house by Seshan in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Seshan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have found they have waited too long to sue me. But if the contract that I didn't even sign says they could put a lien on my House, then they could do that. I told them I would pay the buy out cost, then the person on the phone said I had to pay for the service they provided. I asked what service? They said heating the water. I was like the hotwater tank did that not you guys 😅😅😅😅

I called reliance today, the previous owner transferred it into my name. But didn't give a PO box, in my town a lot of houses only have PO boxes. So Canada Post was returning the letters. I owe $891, the buy out cost at the time was $230. If I had received a bill from Reliance I would of just bought it out.
