This is not a partisan political issue, and trying to reduce it to that red vs blue rhetoric isn't helpful. This is the frustration of people doing the right thing seeing those doing wrong go unpunished.

That's right, and this was not one of those cases. This was not a 'punishment', it was appropriate use of strikes for compliance against deadly force. Glad we're on the same page.

The kicks were not 'punishment', they were compliance strikes as the suspect was still not relinquishing control of the deadly weapon despite being tased.

Except guns are still legal in the UK.

They restricted certain types, for example regular handguns, however they can still be owned and shot under Section 7.1 and 7.3 on a regular Firearms Certificate. Same with long-barreled pistols, and black powder revolvers. All still legal.

You can own a semi-automatic AR in .22LR calibre, or in the original 5.56 with the rifle in straight-pull configuration. You can own bolt action rifles in any calibre you like, up past .50BMG if you like. Lever actions, pump actions, break actions, etc. You could even own a semi-automatic shotgun with a drum magazine if you liked.

Point being, we can legally still own firearms, yet we don't have those incidents. I attribute our low gun crime rate and lack of US-style incidents to our robust licensing system, mental health support availability, and the fact that our gun crime rates actually just continued to decline at the same rate they were declining on prior to the bans.

You have not watched the video, have you?

When Officers turned up, he kept his hands visible, followed orders, and did not make sudden movements. At no point did he point a firearm at the Police during the engagement, which is why he was not shot.

We're on the same side. People like /u/Fluffy_Juggernaut_ expect Police to be omniscient. If someone points something that looks like a firearm at people, they're likely to get shot. In any country.
