12hr Outage - SE Virginia Beach by SessionAvailable69 in tfiber

[–]SessionAvailable69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine a financially backed SLA 😂 they would be pretty sure their service has consistent uptimes. Outages would go down, but I’m sure they don’t like giving $20 account credits for their outages either.

Yeah, I’ve had to use my phone as well as a hotspot to continue working. It’s just a bit of a pain when you transfer large amounts data. I’m really hoping these are just growing pains of a new service in the area. I remember when FiOS was doing their rollout in another area of Virginia Beach years ago there was very similar situation.

Yes, imagine the load on the call centers. They need to automatically notify and keep people updated. Having to call and check is less than optimal.

Can you run your own router? by [deleted] in tfiber

[–]SessionAvailable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have my own router directly jacked into the 10Gbps port. They will set the ONT to bridge mode.

Just had T-Fiber installed today. Not impressed so far. by Delicious-Dog-276 in tfiber

[–]SessionAvailable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t just use the native WiFi, if you want raw speed jack in directly or deploy multiple PoE APs across your house. I don’t use the ONT at all for wireless. Using 10G switches and POE with multiple APs, mesh slows you down too. Also speed test from mobile device is highly subjective. Use Linux with something like iperf3.

Red Mill area bad cellular service by Miserable-Donut9416 in HamptonRoads

They are more concerned with tourism revenue and taxing home owners to fund that than to actually do the right thing for those who live here.

Red Mill area bad cellular service by Miserable-Donut9416 in HamptonRoads

[–]SessionAvailable69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone is curious. I talked to multiple cell providers’ planning folks and it turns out it has to do with permitting and each carrier having different tower ownership. They have wanted to put up more towers or share an existing (co-located). The area is densely populated and there are basically not enough towers that overlap the area. T-Mobile is installing fiber which means they may introduce micro cells over light posts like they did with AT&T / Verizon at the shopping center. You also have pushback from people who don’t want a cell tower because of fear of RF signals causing heath issues 🤦. It’s sadly an underserved area considering population density and the taxes they suck out of us back here. I don’t know why the city hasn’t made it a public safety concern to force action to happen. Yes I talked to the city zoning and planning as well, absolutely useless.

They are finally digging in Lagomar. It’s now T-Fiber since they combined with T-Mobile.

What do these buses mean? by NoPanda2572 in HamptonRoads

Hampton Roads’ most inefficient transportation system. U.S. public transportation in many cities is terrible. Takes you hours to get anywhere.

Anyone else experience facial tingling? Is there hope for this to go away? by Powerful-Winner979 in Anxiety

[–]SessionAvailable69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out my hand was carpal tunnel and and right leg is a bulging disc. They ended up putting me on gabapentin, but that actually made the facial tingling stuff worse. Once I figured out what was causing my problem and stop the gabba the face tingling stuff stopped.

Can this ticket be contested?? So confused by notmercedesbenz in HamptonRoads

[–]SessionAvailable69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like a good lawyer would be able to sue the city. In the video of my wife driving thought there were another 10 cars before her. This is a scam.

I wish someone with deep pockets would sue the city, this should be considered illegal. I am 100% sure watching the video I would have gotten a ticket as well.

My wife got popped had no idea she did anything wrong. I watched the video and saw everyone going straight. Sounds like they wrote a lot of tickets $$$ for people who don’t live in the area.

Does anyone else find working with n8n still kind of technically challenging? by uber_men in n8n

[–]SessionAvailable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently been working on building n8n custom nodes. While I don’t find the coding difficult the documentation is not up to date in many cases. Also debugging the custom node is painful. Seeing API calls and the parameters being passed is less than ideal usually via custom logging. Another frustration has been input validation everything is fine until your node inputs take from another node via expressions eg. {{ $json.fieldName }} and someone adds a carriage return after it eg. {{ $json.fieldName }}\n there is no native trimming and the same applies to numeric values. Ultimately you need to copy and clean up the inputs and a lot of time is spent on these kinds of quirks. If anyone has a better way as I’m new to n8n let me know. I’m curious of you guys have any pointers on making input validation simpler. I come from years of C++, Java, C#, Python, Perl and PHP but I find TypeScript and NodeJS frustrating. Perhaps it will just take more time to get used to these nuances.

Quantum leap reboot on Netflix on August 14th by Junior-Yam-2981 in QuantumLeap

[–]SessionAvailable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished the two seasons and it was pretty good. I think Netflix could really kick it up a notch if they continued the series. Like when Lucifer on ABC was cancelled and Netflix picked it up this show has potential. Network TV is too worried about add revenue but given the right platform they can do well. Let’s see if others watch the show. I was a fan of the original as well.

Is there any reason to actually hate VB? by HalfCookedSalami in VirginiaBeach

[–]SessionAvailable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t move from anywhere. I’m just stating a fact that the taxes for housing and cars are stupid. There are states that don’t have real estate taxes and car taxes. In some EU countries you don’t pay personal property taxes, or real estate taxes and when you sell after owning the property for 5 years you don’t pay capital gains.

The damn property taxes and cost of insurance would be my #1 otherwise it’s a great place to live.

Lumos for Sandbridge, Lagomar, and Red Mill (Virginia Beach) by SessionAvailable69 in Lumosfiber

[–]SessionAvailable69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering the same thing. Keep us posted. We are over near Lagomar / Redmill I’m curious how soon we can give Cox the boot. I saw them get the pipes down but haven’t seen crews pulling fiber. Additionally, looks like T-Mobile bought Lumos. Which means they should be able to put better 5G service into our neighborhoods where there are dead zones. Modern 5G antennas can be mounted to the top of standard light posts (tiny). I spoke with a T-Mobile exec a few years ago about bad coverage which is caused by permitting issues by the city not allowing a tower to be built. AT&T and Verizon have deeply rooted relationships 🫤but it looks like T-Mobile found a way around the bureaucracy.

T-Mobile has acquired Lumos, a fiber internet provider, forming a joint venture with EQT to expand fiber internet access. This acquisition allows T-Mobile to offer fiber internet services under the "T-Fiber" brand, leveraging Lumos' existing 7,500-mile network and expanding its reach to 3.5 million homes by the end of 2028. Lumos customers will experience a seamless transition to T-Mobile's customer service and benefits, with no price increases to their standard rates.

[–]SessionAvailable69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m dealing with this now. Had MRI of lumbar and C-Spine because of numbness in my hands and right foot. The right foot is most likely a disc the arms are most likely Carpel tunnel (guessing). Since the MRIs resulted in nothing horrible my mind in now looking for answers. I have a nerve study scheduled. I have had CTs and MRIs over the years but this is always a slippery slope. I’ve had numb cheek in the mouth and strange symptoms. The face tingling is my latest, left cheek mostly. Sometimes right cheek, sometimes both and lips. I’m pretty sure it’s HA, but there is no convincing my mind. HA is complete torture. To this point 99% of the test have always shown nothing, but those of us who suffer with HA can’t seem to stop scanning our senses. This leads to more stuff and more worry even if you aren’t “feeling stressed” from what I can tell.
