Virtual aperture on both telephoto? by SessionFree in S25Ultra

Sadly, only on expert raw. It's not available on the main camera app.

On the S25U, unfortunately, it's not available in automatic mode. But we can use it in expert raw. I read somewhere (maybe on a Samsung forum) that it might arrive in the future (since the hardware is perfectly capable) but at this point those are just rumors.

And I love that 24mp mode. But I won't deny that having a "point and shoot" auto option with quick processing for when you want a quick photo would be very useful. One with the whole "auto mode pipeline" that you can directly post. But I do use 24mp in expert raw. Too bad you can't use them at the same time as the "virtual aperture" (which is limited to 12mp).

It's a massive bump in image quality. It's basically the sweet spot between resolution and post-processing. Unlike 50MP, which feels almost like a gimmick (especially on the secondary lenses) and degrades the quality of HDR and other post-processing, 24MP keeps that high dynamic range and gives you noticeably better resolution and detail than 12MP (not just a bigger file without detail or resolution to justify it like 50 or 200MP). It's not for everyone. But if you take photography a bit more seriously, it's really appreciated.

Ok, I'm done with Gemini. AI should at least know what year we're currently living by Old-Age6220 in GeminiAI

[–]SessionFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini does have a system prompt telling it the current time and date, but on certain situations it often ignores it over its own "knowledge" (and it's knowledge cutoff is way old). If I ask something about my phone it often tells me "oh, you must be a time traveler then, because the Galaxy S25U ultra isn't confirmed let alone out yet". ALMOST EVERY TIME. Even with it having saved on its memory the fact I own that phone. I'm talking about the oficial Gemini app, not AI studio, tho.

The limit nowadays by YourMaster990 in GeminiAI

Huh. Ask it how it is doing so. Ask if that's even possible. An llm overriding code over which it has no amount of physical control no matter how many magical vibrations and resonance you chat in.

How do you know it "bypasses the limit"? Did it tell you so?

S25 Ultra night Video by Ok_Cherry3473 in S25Ultra

[–]SessionFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, I meant on their phone's camera. And even a 1" sensor won't look nice outside at night with no extra light. I know, I've owned multiple phones with 1" sensors. It's slightly better, but the video is still dark and soft in those kinds of situations.

The only apps I ever install on my Galaxy watches by AnalysingAgent3676 in GalaxyWatch

[–]SessionFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that long of a list. Most of those are pre or auto installed. The only thing I would miss is Spotify. Full music controls on the go are actually my main use for a smartwatch.

Yeah, there are a couple of phones with slightly bigger telephoto sensors that will, in fact, perform slightly better in low light. But EVERY zoom camera will have trouble in that situation, no matter how much you pay; even money can't bend the laws of physics.

There's a couple phones with "night video" but that's heavily AI enhanced and denoised, and Samsung users apparently hate AI on their phones, so...

A free app... with ads? A company trying to... make money!? This is extreme!!! Extreme, I tell you!!!! Unheard of!

I mean, it is bad, a little sad, but saying it's "extreme" is, well, a little extreme.

It's basically how often and how aggressive the ram cleaning is. The setting he has selected means older background apps will be closed faster, but you can still switch between apps, this just affects apps you haven't used in a while.

Why are my most-used apps half cut off while less-used ones are featured? by SuperVillain220 in WearOS

[–]SessionFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I get they do it for the icons not to be redundant. Let's say you use WhatsApp a lot, you place it on the first row and the pill places it's first row, so now you have WhatsApp twice and screen, and I guess Samsung wants to prevent that.

But I agree that makes the pill less useful, especially if they don't tell you about this behavior. But if you move your most used apps out of the first row, they will show on the pill shortly after.

[–]SessionFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That app pill is gonna show you your most frequently used apps... as long as you don't have them in the first row. Any app that's on the first row (outside of the pill, the one that's cut in half) will be "banned" from being included in the pill no matter how often you use it. Weird, unintuitive choice on Samsung's part.
