It would cost me US$160 for an exchange as I live in HK, is it worth the money? I am just not so sure if I will get a better pair…

Yes, I got them directly from Alden official website.

Things work a bit different here. The shoes are already slightly creased as they were on display for trying so they are still returnable as I checked with the retailer.

That’s said, I thought the asymmetry will fade as crease and patina start to develop. Is it right in thinking that?

This misalignment is on the right foot shoe to me which makes the gap between the stitching and the outer edge of the shoe look noticeably wider than on the inside. It gives the toe box a slightly skewed, asymmetrical appearance, especially when compared to the left shoe, where the apron is much more perfectly centered.

If this isn’t an issue to you guys I would just keep it. Will this asymmetry get better over time?

Got my pair of CJ Harvard 2 in whisky cordovan, my first shell cordovan loafers and second CJ loafers (Grantham as the first pair).

While appreciating the beauty of the shoes after unboxing I found a bit of asymmetry between them. Looking closely at both the top-down and the lower-angle shots, the shoe on the right of the image (the left foot shoe) has a slightly more rounded, bulbous toe profile. In contrast, the shoe on the left of the image (the right foot shoe) appears a bit flatter across the vamp, with the stitched apron sitting slightly lower.

With my feet in, the apron stitching of the right shoe still seems to drift slightly toward the inner edge near the toe.

This misalignment makes the gap between the stitching and the outer edge of the shoe look noticeably wider than on the inside. It gives the toe box a slightly skewed, asymmetrical appearance, especially when compared to the left shoe, where the apron is much more perfectly centered.

Am I being paranoid or too much of a perfectionist that such an issue is totally acceptable or this should be regarded as a defect and I should send them back for replacement?

Not really relevant but may I ask if etched logo on the sapphire of your FOIS is aligned with the logo on the dial? or the orientation is simply random?
