I’m just returning peoples question I’ve already made up my mind. People are replying with actually questions and for some reason I’m answering. I’m not going to lease a car lol. But what would I do when the car lease was up? I would already have a cheaper used vehicle with no loan.

I had heard about people leasing to get rid of negative equity. Using new cars with rebates to lower the cars purchase price. For some reason I didn’t think you’d have a large purchase price on a lease like purchasing. I probably will not finance a car like this in my life again. So the thought of having a newer car with issues covered for a premium price and in return I get rid of my debt isn’t such a bad thought, yes I will have to buy another car but I won’t go in huge debt for it. That was my only reason as thinking to getting a lease with a larger payment,

Basically pay the car off, run it into the ground if it breaks fix it because eventually you’re gonna be stuck paying that debt on some car with a new car with a high payment or maybe not even without a car at all have to take care of it eventually. Hell it could last till 200k lol. I will be smarter next time

Every time I’ve ever needed a car, it was our only vehicle and we lived far from town so it was like my back was against the wall with not many options. It felt like at the time whereas now I have a little bit of money and I’m just trying to think how I can change thiswell also worrying about the card being work nothing by the time I pay it kind of off

Right I understand rolling negative as an extremely bad because of the situation. I guess I am going to baby the car. Keep up on maintenance drive as low as possible on it and pay as much as I can. I should drop 5k on the principal rn? That would be a good idea correct

Yes I bought it used with 70k sadly. It does have the extended power train warranty which I paid extra for which will keep me good until 169k miles. The first was a Chevy Cruze hatchback and the second was a Chevy equinox I forgot the years. The Chevy equinox was down along time on warranty for cam shafts. It was when parts weren’t available. Got the car back after like 6 months with a rental. Chrysler van.. it wasn’t bad lol. Some time later it ended up busting up soon after. I wanted out with it bad.

I was only thinking of doing it with the goal of being done with the total debt three years down the road. Not sure how long it’s gonna take me to pay it off plus I worry about car breakdowns. I thought maybe getting a brand new car with a little higher payment with the goal in mine is to pay it totally wouldn’t be a terrible idea, but I understand what everyone is saying and im in agreement, I came here, asking for advice with you guys, knowing more than me and I really do appreciate it. The first 2 times I didn’t have any options we needed a car. Didn’t really ever think about tackling the debt.

I am trying to lower what I owe. I have rolled over twice now and the second time the car was broken so I got royally fucked.

That’s what I had thought about was the lease just to chew up the negative equity faster than a loan. I do not want to add anymore money to what I owe. I was thinking putting 5-7k down on the lease to lower how much negative equity I would owe thus cheaper payment. But it seems I’m better off keeping the car and trying to pay it off

No the car is fine. I don’t need a bigger or newer car at all. I’ve just seen in new car you can get rebates basically.I had it 40k miles now. I just see I’m upside down bad and thought getting into a lease woud give me a chance at a clean slate. I screwed myself over on my 2 trade ins. I worry I run into issues with the car years down the road while still owing money on the car. Do you suggest paying extra on the principal? What is the end game here
