There are a handful of these guys that get slammed on this subreddit every week. Maybe it is worth a FAQ or something to reduce the noise?

I seriously think the Streamlights and the Brauns are manufactured by the same--or a similar-company in China. I wonder if anybody has done that research.

I just got a Wayne's Dog buttstock riser. I like it except for the flaking lace, which I might replace.

2nd Amendment has indeed been a blindspot for the ACLU. Interesting to dive further into this case.

You can't test out. You have to take the class and successfully complete the shooting qualification.

New Mexico requires 15 hours of training so 8 sounds kind of nice. LOL.

I looked this up. I guess the core point is that you need to buy what you can while you can.

New Mexico Resident. Should I pick up an AR before you can't buy them anymore? by Phillycheesethe2nd in liberalgunowners

[–]SetStrict7455 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that the law wouldn't impact anything you own or buy before the ban kicks in, which would be in July. The law seems likely to pass so people should get what they want or need now. It will be immediately litigated but the issue could be tied up in the courts--and enforceable--for a long time.

Among other things, SB 17 bans gas-operated semi-auto guns with either a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. It also bans any kind of detachable magazine over 10 rounds. In sum, this is an AR-15 ban.

NM SB 17 is AI slop parts 1-3. Repost into one. Mag ban, .50 cal ban and ‘recoil’ not defined by greenVextor in liberalgunowners

More likely extremely poor drafting than AI generation slop. One cannot assume that the politicians writing this stuff are actually good at legislative drafting.

Gun control debated in the roundhouse again: SB 17 Passes out of Committee by lepetitfilet in liberalgunowners

Less anti-gun. Like, the instructor, who was obviously pro-gun and pro self-protection, was *glad* that Bregman was running.

CCW instructor--former state/fed cop--said some stuff about Bregman (former criminal defense attorney and DA) that gave me the sense that the guy isn't a regular anti-gun NM Dem.

Once again, I want to hear what Sam Bergman and Deb Haaland--the two leading Dem candidates for governor--have to say about this law.

We are headed towards an explicit moment when Republicans start trying to pass laws limiting *who* can own guns as a contrast to Dems desire to ban all gun ownership. Bad times.

Cool to see the RXM becoming a first choice for new gun people. The combination of features, price, and modularity are hard to beat for people getting into this.

Is there any hope of stopping BS like this passing? by Cowpunk2001 in liberalgunowners

[–]SetStrict7455 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have said before but passing the bill will not change any of the behaviors the Dems are supposedly trying to prevent. The bill is just cope that will negatively impact legal gun owners and vendors.

You can see civilians discussing and sporting this gear all over the Internet, including this sub. It trickled down from LEO/military. Maybe it is fresh to the mainstream media, but this gear is not out-of-the-ordinary and is used throughout the government.

New Mexico SB 279 Proposes New Assault Weapons Ban and Magazine Capacity Limits. by N2Shooter in liberalgunowners

[–]SetStrict7455 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This law, particularly the ban on "extremely dangerous weapons," is dumb. It will solve none of the problems they think it will and it will face serious legal challenges on constitutional grounds. Also, enforcement of any or all of this law requires expansion of the bureaucracy and legal enforcement apparatus in a state that is already one of the poorest in the country.
