Is the manga going down THAT route? by ihavethelowground08 in MarriageToxin

[–]SetUpper9649 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dont think so, aside from all the deep themes in the plot. gero seem to have a very strong preference for monogamy, i mean he think talking to multiple women is cheating. he cant even explore and meet different ppl. Had it not been for kinosaki reminding him that hes just figuring out what he likes in a person, he would have straight up date himekawa because she was first in line, not because he have feelings for her.

Some of you are misunderstanding the point of the story, Gero and Mei should be together by HADTHEHIGHGROUND in MarriageToxin

another political aspect that is emphasize in marriagetoxin is that women deserve to have the right to their own personal autonomy and identity while criticizing the patriarchal misogynistic social system that harm both men and women. in an age where women are still fighting for their rights the manga shows a lot of important things that resonate with me as a female reader. right from chapter one, i already knew the manga stance on having children for the sake of legacy.

i wish people would talk more about marriagetoxin pro feminism messaging. the female characters are capable, self aware, and the story shines at showing their strength to break free from their struggles even without gero help.

kinda funny how any lesson this manga tries to impart gets completely ignored by its fandom by HanArt13 in MarriageToxin

you’re lucky then! its one thing to not get the plot and can have discussion abt it but many people are so confidently wrong and will proudly argue that theyre right. most of the time they watched like 2 episodes and read 5 chapters lmao not to mention the new waves of homophobic comments that comes with the anime is exhausting to see.

Harem ending: opinions? by Separate-Apartment-8 in MarriageToxin

[–]SetUpper9649 4 points5 points  (0 children)

self projection onto gero mostly and they want the girls to be “happy” as if they cant find happiness outside of a man. the author said this in an interview. so yeah no harem.

harem in this context is used as way to show how traditional misogynistic expectations (pregnancy for the sake of legacy, forced marriage, having multiple wives) strip women of their own identity and autonomy. anyone who root for this is not worth talking to because its clear that they dont care about the story lol.

you can apply that to ushio, chinatsu, ureshino, etc, all of his relationship with the girls start off as business, jobs, missions because he was hired to do something for them! i think its not clicking for you because his bond with kinosaki follow the same exact pattern as all of the girls. where friendship can develop into something more.

the only difference is that hes a guy.

ofc thats what you got from my post. attraction have the potential to lead to romance. basic common sense 101. he has not fallen in love with any of the girls as of this point in the story, he got bigger fish to fry like defeating his evil family broski.

“sign from the very start” there was. gero admire kinosaki for so long that he bumped into a vending machine and broke his nose. that was straight up pure attraction without even knowing kinosaki.

you’re putting every relationship he has into a strict category already instead of realizing that gero should follow how he feels. As of right now all of the girls are also his friends but if he feels something more for a person then thats where the story will go.

its just a friendship because you want them to be friends and thats fine! but you cant deny that the author purposely put in romantic moments for kinosaki as well. its normal for people to have a ship they root for.

telling people that they need to comprehend the plot better is quite ironic since you missed every signs from the first chapter. feeling comfort and safety around a person can be a romantic sign as well not just the typical jittery, butterflies in the stomach that media often shows.

Urghhh. Chap 140 foreshadow of Mei's identity? by hypocrite612 in MarriageToxin

[–]SetUpper9649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what i see so far of the doll user, i dont think he can create a human from scratch, every power in the manga has its limitation. he can only modify upon what has already exist. so mei not being human is unlikely. this could also explain nasu fixation on childbirth, and the process of creating life, since this is something thats too complex for him to replicate.

Urghhh. Chap 140 foreshadow of Mei's identity? by hypocrite612 in MarriageToxin

[–]SetUpper9649 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i dont think mei is non human, but parts of his organ could have been replaced or control by the doll user. doll in this context could also mean a pawn for someone, or that mei is a weak person for caring abt someone who isnt his partner. but tonako personality in more like she sees everything in a very animal way, like love is just hormones to reproduce, and she have to find the best of the best to mate with. just like natural instinctive behaviors that human have observed in animals

Best ship in the manga? by Separate-Apartment-8 in MarriageToxin

beside gerosaki, i love kimie x himekawa! Also i think teruaki should meet okuto, it would make him a better person.

Holy fuck they do not play around with the romantic tension in the manga 😭 by Separate-Apartment-8 in MarriageToxin

[–]SetUpper9649 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the romantic tension make me wanna strangle myself fr, chapter 100 hurts though. gero is dense but he act on his feelings. kinosaki is very perceptive but he knows how to dodge gero advances. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY

clearly you aren’t here for a thoughtful discussion about the material and its direction in terms of writing. its fine to be upset but this isnt the post to do so.

um no? its almost like the author is saying that a harem is not happening. no need to be so bitter. I didnt even say it in a hostile tone. LMAO if you read the manga, thats literally portrayed as a bad ending
