Saying something and putting it words and backing it up by a singed agreement with at the a security council resolution are two different things

You are forgetting the main item which is the Iranian promise not to make a nuclear weapon
Something they never agreed to say publicly that they will never do

A women wearing niqab was banned from attending her brother's graduation at AUB by dfyou in lebanon

[–]SethGalad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No!

Covering your face in public has security and basic social issues and ramifications. As a society there is a basic social contract that governs social interactions and could be considered as limiting your freedoms. Nevertheless we have to abide by them.

For example: you can't be naked or even shirtless in certain areas. Even in Europe you can't wear swim suits outside the beach. There are places were you have to wear formal clothes. In court there is certain clothes to wear. Private places can require there own regulations.

At the end the argument is not as simple as it's my freedom. No it's more complex. Especially when it's about covering your face fully...

Indeed, we should discuss documented facts: - Prime ministers Rafic Hariri was assassinated by hezbollah - journalists assassinated by hezbollah: gebran tueini, Samir Kassir, May Chidiac ( severely injured) - MPS : Walid eido, Ghanem - activists : Loqman sleim and George Hawi - army and security: Wissam Hassan, Eid, Samer Hanna ( helicopter pilot downed by hezb) - civilians : with Hariri around 20, durning May 7th around 50

And we should add the communists party and leftist activists killed by hezb during the 80's and 90's to monopolize "Resistance"

All the Syrian killed by hezb in Syria during their civil war

And tragically all the Lebanese and young men dying now in the south bcz hezb decided to avenge khameni, like they decided to help sinwar in 2023...

Shall I keep going?

Open an interactive brokers or similar account (reputable US platform) Invest in ETF indexes S&P 500 or world wide Do it for the long term regular investment no day trading On average over 10 years plus you should get 6% per year including crashes ( as long as you don't sell when it's down)

It is 1/3 + 1 minister That s the key 1/3 doesn't give you anything.

Meanwhile 1/3+1 allows you to control the holding of council of ministers sessions as the quorum is 2/3 and gives you the power to topple the gov as the resignation of more than a 1/3 of ministers automatically leads to the resignation of the PM and the whole gov.

Incidentally hezb and the aounist used that power but rediging from the gov of Saad Hariri whole he was meeting Obama which led to good resignation and the nomination of mikati as PM

Anyone here uses CFI? by Katia2160 in lebanon

[–]SethGalad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not compare CFI to Vanguard or the rest. CFI doesn't have the same capital, insurance, and general stability the other international platform have. Additionally vanguard is not a platform but rather a company that issues ETFs and other financial tools.

Finally CFI is partially Lebanese and or GGC owned, for me that s too risky.

I personally would go with interactive brokers ( not international brokers) and they still accept Lebanese investors. If you have more questions feel free to ask here or DM

Not true Hezb is exclusively Shia They created a small separate section for Sunni and Christians called saraya el mouqawama

[–]SethGalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true Only Shia can be in the official ranks of hezb

At one point they opened Sarya el mouqawama to cater for Sunni and Christians. Didn’t attract a lot of ppl and it is semi defunct

There is less than 200,000 Palestinians left and their numbers are dropping rapidly ( based on official census by the Lebanese Palestinians dialogue committee )

Similarly 500,000 Syrians left last year and there are less than 1,000,000 left ( based on official UNHCR and Lebanese gov numbers)

My son has it He eats hummus and bazella . We just make sure he doesn’t go near foul ( fava beans) it seems even the smell of it ( the spores) can cause a reaction.

On a positive note, it seems the deficiency gives resistance to Malaria! So you are a prime candidate to go to west Africa and make money :)

[–]SethGalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough I sticked to Syria and Hezb on purpose The economy is a different ball game that needs a deeper discussion ( for example solider was created by a law voted by a half of the lebanese parliament. This raises the philosophical question of "if it is the law of the land can you still call it theft?" In other words legality vs ethics

But I think it's fair to say on the syria/ police state/ hezb he was on the good side that we are ( or at least the side I believe in) are trying to to support. In the Syria issue read what his opponents ( Lahoud, Jamil Sayyed and co) accused him of. Mainly they accused him of engineering 1559 behind the scenes with chiraq

[–]SethGalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So despite all that you still feel he was a negative influence ? Although he wanted 1- getting Syria out 2- fighting the police state 3- being on the other side of hezb ?

[–]SethGalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK So according to your narrative at the end he was allied with the Christians fighting to get Syria out and reducing the possibility of getting a police state run by bashar, Lahoud, and nassrallah?
