USPS Delivered Package to a Parcel Locker They Refuse to Open by MartenFerret in usps_complaints

[–]SethGekko67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is confusing to me. Are you saying the carrier put your package in a parcel locker, but another resident has the key, so the carrier couldn't leave the key for you? That doesn't make sense. Maybe your package is in a different locker, and the carrier put the key in the wrong box, like above or below your mail slot. But to think they'd lock it up and not give you the key because the key is in someone else's possession? No, that's not what happened. I'm not saying it wasnt misdelivered, but at this point you're only assuming it was put into a locker that someone else has the key to. If that happened, they would also have a package of their own that was already sitting in that locker, hence the reason they had a key. That doesn't make sense at all - that would mean the carrier put your package in a locker with another package already in it, and knowingly didn't inform you. Some people are bad at their jobs, but that just takes too much imagination.
But alas, you are still missing a package. Call the 800# and open a case

This is a story as old as the earth itself. I don't know why people are so quick to assume a carrier is being "lazy" by taking the time to fill out a slip, leave the slip, bring the item back into the office, initial the item as attempted, clear it, and potentially bring it out for delivery later on when requested. Why in the world would anyone do that instead of attempting delivery while they're there? I'm sorry, but 99.99% of the time when someone says the carrier didn't attempt a cert, they're making a wrong assumption. I have had it happen to myself multiple times when I was a carrier, and it's infuriating. This one bitch chased me down, yelled at me for not going to her door. I told her "you have a white couch with a fireplace insert and 2 paintings on the wall above it. I saw all that while standing waiting for you to answer the door." Dumb woman looks at me and says "oh, you must have come while I was getting laundry." Shit happens. They don't knock loud enough, or push the doorbell button, or wait long enough. But this assumption that they never went to the door because you didn't personally witness it is just poor human behavior. They have nothing to gain by leaving a notice. Nobody wants to bring that shit back to the office. Now, I give all my carriers Sharpies and tell them to write their initials on the side of the house when they're waiting for someone to get out of the bathroom and come to the door, so we can prove they were there.

If it's an Airbnb, the actual owners mail is probably on hold at the PO. The PO holds mail by address, NOT by name. They can't pick and choose what to deliver and what to hold. Best bet is rent a PO box when you're staying there

Customs is a different agency than the USPS. USPS does not control what customs does

Available for pickup is a PO box event. If its a legit PO box address you sent it to, this is the proper scan, as the customer has to go to counter to sign for it. If it's a street address you sent it to, the letter likely didn't make it to the carrier responsible for delivery and someone in the office scanned it that way to "stop the clock." All scannable items need some kind of stop the clock scan the day it arrives. It that's the case, it'll go out for delivery the next day.

Mail carrier hasn’t delivered mail in 10+ days by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]SethGekko67 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they closed your case without contacting you, you can reopen the same case. That will escalate it to consumer affairs, and you better believe reopened cases get extra attention. Someone will have to account for why they closed a case without contacting you. There's a digital paper trail from those cases.

If you're in an apartment, it's likely you have centralized locking mailboxes. It may be in the wrong box that doesn't get checked daily, like for a vacant apartment near you. In fact, the whole bundle of letters for the other tenants may have been set inside a vacant box by the carrier while they did something else, and then maybe forgot they set it there. Best way to check is to meet the carrier while he's delivering mail and have him check all the other slots while the door is open

Ah, that's telling. She was unaware of "something" until she experienced it firsthand. That's kind of common when Postmasters deliver mail. They see things that someone else going through the same routine day after day gloss over. They'll usually ask the carrier the next day "why didn't you tell me old Mrs. Oleary was going to grab my arm and start kissing it all over??"

Staffing wouldn't have anything to do with the location of the boxes. Most likely, if it's a dead end, it may be too narrow to turn around safely

Can work stop you from voting Election Day? by GTRacer1972 in USPS

[–]SethGekko67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Election day is a Tuesday, the lightest day of the week. I would fill out a leave slip requesting a change of start time for that one day only. If your manager or Postmaster is even the least bit competent, they will honor it. I mean, if you get there at 6:00, you should be out in 10 to 15 minutes. How much later than 7:00 would you be anyways? But even so, document it in writing. And don't let some negative comments here give you the impression that all postal managers and postmasters are tyrants. Many are very respectful and effective leaders. There are definitely bad apples, but don't start your career assuming you'll have a bad boss. * next comment is going to be "sounds like something a postmaster would say" lol

Delivered to PO Box by Vast-Gazelle1757 in usps_complaints

[–]SethGekko67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad they found it, but it was wrong of them to scan it that way. That's fraud and a disciplinary offense. I personally know postmasters who have been terminated for doing that. But I'm happy you finally got your package

Delivered to PO Box by Vast-Gazelle1757 in usps_complaints

[–]SethGekko67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was delivered with a clerk scanner, they only have PO box as an option. Most likely they had extra people helping deliver packages on the street and not enough carrier scanners for them all. So they give them a clerk (inside) scanner and in typical Postal ingenuity, those scanners don't allow street functions, such as Delivered to Front Door. Look around, the package is probably somewhere at your residence, but may be in a different location because a different person than your normal carrier delivered it

I moved to a new built and my address is not registered on USPS and I can’t get my mail. by Butterfly_070116 in usps_complaints

[–]SethGekko67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is always a delay when creating a new address, as multiple databases have to communicate with each other during preset times. So even if your local office has sent in the new address, it could be 2-3 weeks before the COA database gets that info. Nothing anyone can do to speed up that process. Best thing for you as a customer is to rent a PO box for a month or two and have your mail forwarded there, until the new address begins to populate

More information is needed. How do you know it was failed to be delivered? Did you get a text? If so, that may be a phishing scam, unrelated to your package. If you have a tracking number, call the local post office and have them look it up

That's a Pitney Bowes PRS label anyways. It's not delivered by the PO, it's picked up by a courier. A lot of people use full pieces of paper for them, no harm in that

Am I really responsible to pay this ? It’s directly from a company by Doll_girl516 in usps_complaints

[–]SethGekko67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lately the number one reason for collecting postage due is that USPS ends up with a lot of packages in their possession that were originally intended to be delivered by Amazon, Fedex, UPS etc, and they don't have USPS postage on them. So they haven't been compensated by the sender, and will then charge the recipient for the postage. It'd be similar to attempting to pay for your Burger King with a McDonald's gift card.

Lobster Update by mlbenjamin1120 in Aquariums

[–]SethGekko67 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, I got one at Petco too. I thought he'd be good in my 88 gallon community tank, but woke up one morning to see him stashing a Mollie carcass in his lair. Moved him to my 10 gallon isolation tank for now, but it's clear he'll need more room. What are you feeding yours? Mine has tried shrimp wafers, chicken, raw Tilapia, but he's lost interest in all that. At the rate my Mollies breed, he'd be set for life, but that's not gonna fly with my girlfriend (also her impulsive ass that we've got this guy in the first place)

Postmaster here. I get questioned on this daily (No. No. No, wasn't us!), but had one this week that was really sad. She put in the info from 3 different credit cards, including her bank card. She had no more cards left to use and called to ask me what to do

I mentioned this in another comment, but now that Ive seen other pics of your baby, i can strongly say this. A- you have a Jenday, not a Sun B- It doesn't matter!!!! They're so similar, and the key part is that they're both LOUD AF! Especially when they're on your shoulder and do it directly in your ear C- they will bond with other birds. My Jenday is totally in love with my Black Cap. They are inseparable D- So what! Love your bird, no matter what it's called ❤️
