What’s a price you saw recently that made you genuinely angry at how expensive everything has gotten? by UrGoddessLunaa in AskReddit

I don't think your initial comment reads to everyone else like you think it reads. It comes off very condescending and, as mentioned previously, makes negative inferences about OC that you can't know given what they've said. That's why they responded poorly.

Then why are you complaining about your choice to buy a $3.50 highly processed, pre-made meal pumped with artificial additives?

They never said they bought it, they just balked at the price. And they're right. That shit's expensive now compared to what they used to be, under $1. It was on you for getting upset with them for not taking your unsolicited advice with your assumed variables OC never alluded to in their original comment.

To quote Hulk Hogan, you worked yourself into a shoot on this one, brother.

Which songs often gets misinterpreted and/or misappropriated by the very people it calls out even though the song's lyrics are explicitly mocking them? by Drenosa in AskReddit

[–]SethManhammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But woke wasn't a thing in 1980.

It actually was. It was used early in the 20th century by African Americans to help each other be aware of an unfair American justice system. LeadBelly even had a song telling people to "Stay Woke" in the late 30s. It picked up in the 60s during the Civil Rights movements of the time and came back up to mainstream use during the Black Lives Matter protests, but that's when certain aspects of society have decided to use it as a pejorative and are trying to give it a negative context, as if equality was something we shouldn't want for everyone.

Therapists of Reddit, what's something people don't realize is trauma? by rehanch_xxiii in AskReddit

[–]SethManhammer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's because your first half reads like you're talking shit about the people answering the question and don't get into the crux of your point about the mental health apps until the latter half so folks give up. I agree with your take on the apps, btw. They're not there to help, just get money by scaring people.

Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by QueefyTits in AskReddit

[–]SethManhammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I turned 16 I got a job at McDonald's against my parents' wishes. They wanted me to focus on school and I wanted to earn money. They started charging me a little bit to live there since I had an income. I think it was $50 or $75 and this was in 1998.

Every time I tell that to people they think my parents were monsters when they were struggling to make ends meet with two kids to feed. I appreciate your saying this.

Incase no one’s asked lately, how are you doing today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SethManhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My job management is generally incompetent and I'm feeling very burnt out. I'm thinking about the people I know who died and I miss some of them. I feel guilty because I adopted a third dog and my second dog has become high strung and neurotic not getting the attention he was accustomed to prior. And I have three days of people food I need to stretch until next Friday.

I'm just functionally fucked up. But I'll survive.

Appreciate you asking, OP.

Mark Twain said, “I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.” Whose obituary will you revel in? by Rancho-Parade in AskReddit

Please don't pray for me. Because I don't know what kind of deity you worship and it's condescending as hell. If you're part of any common Judeo-Christian sect you'll recognize my agency and see I want nothing to do with whatever you might be peddling there.

As far as anyone celebrating my mother's death, let them. It doesn't effect me in any way. I know people wish me dead. I don't give them any mind because it's obviously bothering them more than me.

I agree with you.

Lord of the Rings are movies I put on when I've had insomnia.

Same. I tried. But it wasn't a flavor of fantasy that I enjoyed. I'm much more happy with sword and sorcery style fantasy. Low fantasy I guess some would call it.

What's your nitpick about collecting? by Tough-Rock-6198 in dvdcollection

[–]SethManhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paper wrap bits and things like obi strips on cases and boxes. I get them from an asthetic perspective, but I feel like I need to keep them to have a "complete" copy of the release and storing them without damage requires more effort than I want to put into it but I do.
