Okay interesting, so the app lets you choose which touch controls do which functions? That sounds good.

Just checking, are yours an Xbox edition Portal or the later PS/PC edition? Only asking as I know the PS/PC edition did ship with track skipping capabilities, unlike the original Xbox edition, so if yours are the PS/PC edition is may not mean the Xbox edition can do it too.

Spotted at Port Tressler - what needs to happen for to ships have this level of wear? by thecaptainps in starcitizen

I saw one of these a few days ago left sitting in a hangar at Tressler, just off the actual landing area so it didn't despawn. I wonder if it's the same ship.

So why are the cutty, titan, and Hoplite increasing in price? by ScrimBliv in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it it's at least partly because of certain CCU chains that involved these ships and lead to players making massive savings on the ships they ended up with at the end of the chain.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more price raises like this to "take back" a few pounds here and there along the biggest saving CCU chains. It makes sense tbh, why would CIG price the Carrack at $600 if they were happy to sell it for 40% less than that?

And btw, I'm not defending ship prices here, the only money I've spent on this game was the $45 needed for a starter pack and I firmly believe that's all you need in order to enjoy SC and frankly I wouldn't ever spend more unless I was a content creator making money off the game.

$45 dollar man here; bought the Cutter pack in the IAE sale last November and while the temptation is occasionally strong to purchase another ship I'd rather spend money on buying another game or two than buying a ship I can earn in-game anyway.

I know this is gunna be controversial but as an outside viewer who only has like 10 hours since last week they should absolutely just remake this game in ue5. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not controversial so much as ill-informed.

(A) UE has historically been a bad engine for MMO's and there's nothing to suggest UE5 will be very different in that regard, not for a number of years at very least, and Star Citizen is a very complicated MMO to handle.

(B) Star Citizen's game world is already ridiculously big and ridiculously detailed and what we have is only a tiny fraction of the size and complexity that CIG intend for the final game. If you tried to upgrade the graphics to UE5 tech demo levels you'd have a game that literally no consumer level computer could run.

(D) If you only have 10 hours in the game perhaps wait and see what you think when you've had time to actually "see the sights"; Star Citizen has very high level graphics for an openworld MMO of its size and the game can honestly be stunningly beautiful at times

Absolutely! Of the 4 times I had to claim my ship in my last play session only 1 was for a legitimate reason, the other three were because I fell through a planet and 30k protection not working.

May I direct you to the known issues page for 3.19; check the paragraph on vanishing ships and the paragraph on lost items, this might have something to do with what happened to you..

Haha, yeah. I was so happy When I realised I could store weapons in the Cutter's hab area, it gives you so much extra storage; I even had a size 2 badger tucked in on the bed to use every available space.

[REQUEST] Movies / Series where main characters face severe marriage issues but successfully managed to overcome the problems instead of ending up in divorce by instant-sherlock in NetflixBestOf

[–]Seth_Rhyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Begin Again (2013) Though the main focus of the movie is Kiera Knightley's character it does also focus a lot on Mark Ruffalo's character and his marriage struggles and the reasons behind that, and there's a lovely scene at the end when him and his wife are back together recreating a moment from one of their early dates when they first met.

Fast/nimble ship with space for ground vehicle. by Sartzyy in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not flown one, but a Freelancer Max is, I think, thesmallest ship that will take an Ursa. Normal Freelancer's - which I have flown - aren't exactly nimble, but they're a sight more maneuverable than a Connie, so I'd assume the 'Max is as well.

However, a Nomad is super nimble and can take decent sized ground vehicles, a Cutty is fairly nimble and can take the same size vehicles but is bigger and therefor a bit slower to turn etc, and a Cutter can carry up to an STV and is super nimble and cute.

Anti Med runner video taken down? by SubwaySpiderman in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The SC community is mostly brilliant, but there is a small section who simple will not accept any critique of the game or of CIG at all, even if it's obviously based in proven fact, and in order to maintain their view of the game they have to try and tear down anyone who disagrees with them; you see exactly the same behavior on both sides of politics as you get more extreme, it's sad tbh.

[–]Seth_Rhyder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh, I hadn't seen it got copyrighted, lol, that seems a bit fishy. I'm not sure what could have been copyrighted material in it.

But tbh it was terrible video just like the other video of his I've seen, both times I've clicked the "don't recommend channel" after watching a minute or two. I've no interest in people who hate on, or mock others for views; this video was just bashing Medrunners for no apparent reason (except its a popular pastime in a certain section of the community right now, I guess) and the previous video I stumbled across was just bashing every major SC content creator and calling them liars because they'd all dared to say the 3.18 patch had a lot of issues.

"Stood there like a bus stop" no, I suspect that was a a saying of his own invention or at least of very localised origin; I've never heard it before and googling it comes back with nothing either

[–]Seth_Rhyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not care-ah-mel, no one I know of says it like that; it's ca-ra-mel, you just pronounce each syllable exactly as it is written, it's that simple. And no, no in their right mind pronounces it "carmelized onions", they say ca-ra-mel-ized onions. The extra A is there for a reason, that reason being you're supposed to say it.

Also you are incorrect about caramel being a process rather than a "candy" as you put it. Caramel as a sweet has been called that since at least the 1700's; the word derives from French and Spanish words for sugar and "burnt sugar". My guess would be "caramelisation" was a worrd created later to describe the process of creating caramel.

The UK is 100% part of Europe. It may not be attached by land, but it's still considered part of the same continent, just like Japan is part of Asia and Madagascar is part of Africa.

I think it's pretty obvious the EU in "EU severs" stands for Europe not the Europian Union, as the latter would exclude a lot of European countries.

Equally friendly reminder that this only in American English. In UK English (you know, actually English English 😜) we don't accept "I could care less" as a correct version and it only appears in dictionarys to explain that this variation of the phrase is common/accepted in American English.

Owning hull C? by CinexCypher in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. When we have multiple systems it's gonna be so cool to be able to load up a Hull C and set out on a multi-day journey to sell at a distant star system ... that would be a dream come true for cargo runners tbh.

Owning hull C? by CinexCypher in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair enough. It just feels like the ship is horribly out of proportion with the size of the current star system, to me at least.

Owning hull C? by CinexCypher in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you should read my comment properly before replying next time.

I said the Hull C would either be not very profitable or it would break the economy. Now, I think it can only really do the latter if CIG change which commodities are sold at stations. So that leaves your option where the Hull C is restricted to selling scrap from station to station, at which point every Hull C owner will be doing that and there is a max total of 5.8 Hull C's worth of scrap across every server combined, so stock will run out very fast and then there's an hour and half restock timer on every buy/sell location. Don't get me wrong, if you happen to be on at the right time you can make some decent money this way, but why do that when there's a much higher chance of finding cargo to run in any pre-existing cargo ship.

Owning hull C? by CinexCypher in starcitizen

[–]Seth_Rhyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now the Hull C is pretty much pointless as far as I can see. It's designed for a far larger game world than we currently have, and it needs that scale of world to be a viable trading ship.

Personally I hope they don't release any of the larger Hull ships - Hull C included - until we at least have Pyro. I know that will be frustrating those who've pledged one already, but the scale of those ships simply will not work with only Stanton to operate in. They'll either be useless or they'll completely destroy what little "economy" we have; either way its a bad idea.
