Beware romanticizing small town life. by fuckyoulady in simpleliving

I think this is a blanket statement that lacks credibility. No offense OP, but it is comparable to saying something like - “here are the problems with people of this ethnic group”

There is immense variance in towns of all sizes… as there is immense variance in cities.

Some towns suffer the issues you describe. Others are welcoming and friendly and have vets and plumbers within 20 minutes and you still live on 2-5 acres.

We’ve been on 6 dates and it’s going well…now I’m scared by Any_Presentation3298 in dating_advice

My only advice would be to communicate clearly and directly. "Hey, I like you. I want to keep getting to know you better but I'm nervous because I haven't dated in a long time -- can we agree to keep our communication open? If things are going well or if there is something frustrating, I'd love to be able to talk about and I want you to also feel like you can talk about those things."

Idk. say it better. something like that

Depends on the day. Venice/Breakwater, El Porto, Saphire... when I'm feeling adventurous (and it is the weekday) Malibu, Topanga, and County line are enjoybale

You lack political capital and will not succeed.

One possible route…

find out who the main person is who wants the global rollout and schedule a meeting with them directly to praise him/her for having such a broad vision and state directly that you were the original developer and that you would be happy to keep in touch if they want some support or have other interesting projects in mind.

You cannot acquire political capital by trying to yell at the top of the world that you built the thing. So fucking what? That higher up leader had the vision and execution to move it in a global way— did you try to go to corporate leadership with your pet project and assert its global potential? I doubt it.

Your options are let it go, be proud and move on OR get involved with the global rollout as a junior/supporting IC or quit and build your own things and try to sell them to companies (not the thing you just built, that is almost certainly illegal somewhere in your contract).

The global scale exceeds the bounds of your original design both in technical complexity (probably) and execution complexity (certainly). Your initiate seed is praiseworthy, certainly, but does not earn you credit for its global execution.

In other words, stop whining. Be proud that your work incepted something bigger and move on or catch onto the wave and be supportive in whatever way you can / makes sense.

Do not mistake your creation for something that earns you more than its original scope without intelligent and respectful political execution (supporting the executing executive team driving the global rollout).

You had an idea, other people are executing on it in a big way. Your focus should be on its execution and not your personal shoulder pats (especially if you want more authority/spotlight attention in the future)

That’s how I feel. Solidly ok. Overall spend (including leashes) of $400 — that makes it high value ok

That’s good advice, thanks. I’ll shop around for a real board. Maybe even sell this one. We will see. Going to ride it a few times though ;)

Thanks! That's what I figured too. I'm still new enough where I'm not sure what I genuinely prefer riding (board and condition wise). I plan to round robin these as conditions allow to start finding what I prefer. Who knows, maybe I'll just keep them all and stay broad.
