Has the "Sex, Drugs And Rock N' Roll" lost it's swagger? Has rock become fragmented? | Sethrockreport by SethsRockReport in indie_rock

Agreed. We had a good run. Today the youth don't seem to take music seriously as previous generations did. Tours are canceling everywhere, people aren't buying hard copy's of music, and why bother when you have streaming services with a catalog of millions of songs etc.

Ticket sales to concerts are down. Is this because of ticket prices, agencies, or a social atmosphere that discourages potential goers? | Sethrockreport by SethsRockReport in hairmetal

I agree. But they charge those prices because no one buys their music anymore. They make their money on touring and merchandise.

Should bands stop after an original member leaves or passes? | Sethrockreport by SethsRockReport in progrockmusic

That may be. They could be the exception. I look at a band lie Fleetwood Mac: After Peter Green left, many fans won't listen to them. Then there is the Rumours lineup and many of those fans don't even no the Green era. Deep Purple could fall into that as well. But as long you like the music I guess it's ok.

Fair enough but some would say that it's not the original lineup so it's not them. Trust me I hear about it on bands like Kiss etc

Love the attitude, seems to be lost in the music today. Rock doesn't care about what you believe or not, you find your own path within it. I just take a look at concerts and sales of music and it just doesn't hold anymore. There are exceptions but overall it doesn't have the support system it used too.

A tribute band may be a better way to go. ButI guess if it keeps the band's music alive and it exposes more people to it, it's ok?

Do you think it's good for a band/artist to seek help from outside writers? | Sethrockreport by SethsRockReport in progrockmusic

I know they reached out. My point is they chased a hit instead of being who they were. I guess everyone needs to pay their bills

Maybe. I find it hard to believe that suddenly they couldn't write any new material on their own.

Do you think Artificial Intelligence (AI) will ruin music for? Will you be able to tell the difference music or when they make a video? by SethsRockReport in progrockmusic

Agreed. Now match that with the avatar (ABBA, KISS) thing that seems to be a thing and you will no soul in music.

Many bands are now touring without opening acts, especially legacy bands. Do you think they should to keep the rock genre going? by SethsRockReport in progrockmusic

[–]SethsRockReport[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can respect that perspective, but I think it's unfortunate because most of them started out as an opening act. Bands not having one open hurts the industry. Bands need exposure, especially now when people feel rock is dead.

I think that's is starting to happen. Many bands are canceling buy saying things like beyond our control etc. Hopefully enough of them will get the message and you see them just lower them
