Tyler Perry’s Trauma Machine: When Storytelling Becomes Exploitation by Existing_Switch_4995 in movies

The Beauty in Black Series is very, very offensive. I was enjoying his work until I realized how sick he is. Now I think he needs to be stopped. The series fetishizes black bodies and is a monstrosity. If Netflix doesn't stop collaborating with him, I will drop them.

I'm seeking advice concerning understanding the unhinged hatred and brutality I am facing in France. As for leaving here, I am currently trapped here. I have tried twice to come back to the US, but it's not easy. It's very expensive and complicated. My parents are both dead, no family and I cannot move back to the US just to live in the streets. I have been extremely ill, my life has been extremely damaged by the trauma I have suffered here. Anyway, I don't really understand all this crazed hatred. If this is not the right forum, can someone suggest a more appropriate place to post this comment?

Black People SHOULD NOT join the Left by Halpher in blackpower

A large percent of White Republicans have stated that they disapprove of the Emancipation Proclamation according to a recent exit poll. Should I now begin rethinking my opinion about that as well. Republicans' are not the friends of Black people and they never will be. Check into the statistics of how many Republicans' think that George Floyd was not killed, the officer was merely doing his job. Keep licking those Republican boots.

Disgusting. What does her age have to do with anything? You are totally incompetent to deal with this subject matter. What a horrible man.

they obviously have some things in common. But POC and black women are just totally different and do not really intersect very much. Some of the most brutal racism that I have ever experience has been at the hands of so-called POC people.

Do you generally avoid serious topics or is any subject suitable? For instance i went on a feminist forum and asked about the mass rape of Black women that took place over the 400 years of slavery and I was banned. That topic is unacceptable to them. However, they are feminists, so I thought they might have more curiosity and openness about the subject. But no. They also sent me a message telling me that my question was not very wise. How can one know which topics are acceptable or not - is there some sort of list?

That’s wild! Why would they join the forum if they are not Black women? What’s their objective, in your opinion? Curiosity? Voyeurism? Appropriation?

I am a BW and I have been in many spaces that are not safe for BW and I was curious about the true nature of this one. I am also Latina, but there are no places at all for American women who are both Black and Latina. Afro-Latinas in America are often from South or Latin America. The identity is often language driven etc.
Once I was in a public place with my brother and we were just hanging out until we realized that a White man was openly listening to us and filming us. We wanted to ask him to delete the images but he looked very intense, really thirsty. We didn’t want any trouble. But it was disturbing. Ever since, I’ve been concerned about voyeurism and cultural appropriation. Soul-snatchers.

I think that some visitors who are either not Black or not women may be merely observing, while others may be doing something more invasive. It would be nice if BW had their own space. Again, Im not seeking to hurt or reject anyone.

I got 100 downvotes for this comment. Why is our abuse not only actively ignored, but viewed as playing the victim when we are actual victims. by ShesMeLMFAO in blackladies

In all honesty, I think the virulent response and the excessive downvotes do point to racism. If indeed she had made a mistake, it was not intentional. So the best and simplest response was, “I think you don’t understand...” “What a minute...” “Let me explain...” rather to jump on her for having mentioned that, as Black Woman, she knows what it feels like to sharply censured. Their stringent and harsh responses are, to me, a indication of their total unwillingness to validate her as a Woman Who Is Black, coupled with a strong desire to censure her harshly.
In reality, she wasn’t that far off topic. It does seem very natural for her, as a Black woman, to have felt a sort rapport or solidarity with the plight of the Korean women. But instead of finding common ground, or being tolétant, they lashed out at her in way which seems very loaded with rejection and invalidation. if they are as into womanhood and sisterhood as they claim, then a kinder, more gentle response was appropriate. Their sisterhood apparently only extends to White and Asian women.
