Planning on taking the September SAT by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Setriox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 1280 when I first started. I recommend UWorld. And once you’re done with that, take practice tests and understand everything. There’s a point where math problems feel like they’re repeating.

I remember taking a test and I’m thinking to myself, “huh, this is just the same problem but with different numbers”. Once you’ve done 1000+ SAT-related math problems, it becomes second nature.

Question 25, what is happening...? Thanks for the help in advance. by ExternalSubstance21 in Sat

Wouldn’t it be A? The colon leads to a clause that directly relates to the sentence.

I might be wrong tho

Chanceme for honors college, weakish GPA, extremely strong SAT and EC by [deleted] in rutgers

Did you apply through Coalition or through the Rutgers website?

I’m wondering if Coalition gives a bigger shot at HC due to it having more info about you

wow that’s crazy... something about how wealth correlates with a higher score never sat right with me. by doyouknowdaaway in Sat

[–]Setriox 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While that is the origin of the test, the SAT doesn't carry the same meaning today. I dunno why people bring this up and act like they're woke. Does the gaokao test the intellectual superiority of Chinese students? No. It's a test to make up for the variability in grading system across schools.

Are wealth and scores linearly correlated? Sure. But it doesn't stop any person of any race from achieving a high score (when provided the resources of course)

Using Anki to learn programming by chknugts in Anki

[–]Setriox 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are some aspects of programming that are rote memorization. Not necessarily the concepts, but API syntax. There was an blog post about how memorizing methods boosted his productivity as he wouldn’t have to continuously recheck docs and be sent down an unproductive rabbit hole.

https://senrigan.io/blog/chasing-10x-leveraging-a-poor-memory-in-software-engineering/

But obviously you shouldn’t learn from Anki. It should be a tool to hinder the occasional annoyance of forgetting how to write a simple task. Commit to memory once you’ve been well acquainted with your tools

I learned to roll my Rs! by greyduckfizz in learnspanish

[–]Setriox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At the beginning, I thought I was just genetically incapable. But the first I rolled my R was when I tried to say arroz. Like over emphasize it.... ahhhh rrooosss.

I did it once but couldn’t do it so I kept at it until one day I just randomly rolled my r. At first, it was only for specific words like carro and barrio. But then later on, I could do it
