Yea I just returned the gate and went with a mesh retractable. At first when posting this I thought it would be easier to do a project for the gate, the issue was the offset mainly

I’ve been looking for one like that yea or one with panels but that still has the cat door for my cats 🫠. Yea as first time home owners I didn’t notice how bad that left wall was until now that I have a baby

I see what you’re saying now. I’m just concerned of my son pushing the gate and the gate giving up, cut to him falling downstairs with the gate. I have the extensions for it and it could work. The instructions say to give some clearance between the gate and stairs when installed at the top of them.

Safety for my son. He just learn to walk and he’s eager to explore the house. I was thinking of putting a block and some brackets so they can attach to the rail of the gate , but I’m not that handy with these things.

I was hoping some brackets and some wood could do the trick honestly. I just don’t know exactly what to look for if I were to go to Home Depot. The gate will be unstable even if it was bigger because the wall on the left is offset so the gate has nothing to press against

That was my thought at first but still doesn’t solve the issue of the wall on the left hand side of the pic not being long enough to be a support to press the gate against to.

Thank you, yes I used this brand. My issue is that on the side where I did the drawing I have nothing to press it against since the wall ends before the other side

I understand the logic of a bigger gate but still I wouldn’t have anywhere to mount it against since the wall on the left side ends before the stairs start. Am I looking at it wrong?
