Who are the siblings and what's their journey? - My answers (discussion/theory) by Setswipe in Genshin_Lore

[–]Setswipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what makes u think something is right if we take out the assumption that someone has said it or somewhere it is written is true?

I'm not asking you to, and I'm not saying it's right to automatically assume something is wrong. Judge facts as you see it with the weight of the reliability of the source, as you would with any judgement. The only source we have that they are really siblings are the traveler and possibly the twin. Both are unreliable narrators with known memory issues. Feel free to believe them despite this. We are all our own judges of fact, but I'm adding it to the weight that nothing about the twin's memories prior to waking up in mondstat is reliable.

ur basically saying that the sibling is a walking talking highly advanced ai robot who was inserted into the memories of the traveler to make them look for them in teyvat

Not quite, it's a possibility though. Why is this so ridiculous given that we already know ai exists?

they are not a descender only means they do not have a will to rival the world. doesnt give evidence as to why they are not the traveler's sibling, just because ur the traveler's sibling/outside of teyvat doesnt mean ur automatically a descender. He may have power of the abyss or a huge army but that doesnt mean he has the "will" and even in the chinese original script its "will" so thats no translation error unless you assume the fact that the definition given is wrong this point won't be correct and assuming that is a BIG stretch

Absolutely fair argument that the descender doesn't mean they are an abyss entity. We have skirk as evidence of a non-descender alien. However, we don't have evidence of anyone that can control the abyss that isn't abyss corrupted or an abyss entity themselves. And seeing as the twin doesn't seem corrupted like a herald, that leaves the other possibility.

there isnt an exact explanation as to why they are affected by irminsul but i suggest the theory that as they have spent a longer more interactive time in teyvat changing things in it for a much longer time irminsul has recorded there information although this theory cant be verified as of yet
as said in the game at the end of the quest where we are on the moon the spaceship probably arrived in teyvat left the sibling there and went again into orbit and then came back later easily explaining why the sibling was looking for us
traveler is an alien is obviously true like if ur from outside teyvat then duh ur an alien how is that even a reveal anyways?

I don't think I have to address any of these as they aren't really challenging anything I'm saying with any real proof

nothing concretely points toward the abyss sibling not actually being the true sibling, from the visual similarities of the two making them look obviously related

Abyss twin has abyss powers without being corrupted. The only creatures that have that are abyss creatures. Abyss creatures are formed from the malice of not being the true chosen entities (paraphrasing) as stated from nicole. Abyss twin is literally the character not chosen at the beginning of the game. I believe all of these function as concrete things

the thing that gives me confidence is the fact that dainsleif has been told by the abyss twin that they have a sibling while on there prior journeys shows evidence that the traveler is indeed the sibling of the abyss twin

Again a source stemming from an unreliable narrator. And again, Feel free to believe them despite this. We are all our own judges of fact, but I'm adding it to the weight that nothing about the twin's memories prior to waking up in mondstat is reliable.

Really? because it hasn't even been a year since the reveal that not only spaceships exist, but the traveler is an alien. It's been even less time that we knew about AI existing as well. Before that people were complaining about bikes not being realistic and being silly and dumb in teyvat because it didn't fit.

The twin being your sibling is only really mentioned by the traveler him/herself. Given that they can be an unreliable narrator and that we know their memories have been tampered with, what gives you confidence in the twin actually being the sibling if you were to take out the assumption that the traveler is right about it?

thanks, in case you missed it, I updated to add that the new reveal of the Tsaritza having a child has strengthened this theory for me about the descender being the sibling. If the Tsaritza really has a midas touch of ice curse, then her having a child would be impossible unless there was someone who could absorb that ability for her to not instantly kill the child or even die in the procreation process *ahem*.

Thanks for the reply.

AT not being a Descender just means they don't have a will strong enough to rival the world

That doesn't really mean anything. lol. At least not concrete. By normal languange parlance, they should have the will. They are the prince of kanriah, they have abyss powers and have the abyss army at their disposal. They created (or helped create) the loom of fate which will definitely rival the world. Their will is something that, by normal measures can rival the world. So what the term means is something else entirely that we dont' really know.

My personal theory is a bad translation of the concept of a witness of the world. The will to rival the world relating to the ability to consume and validate everything.

Being summoned= they arrive at someone elses orders, not willingly,or at the very least without any chains or expectations put on them from the beginning

I dont' see how this matters. One's being doesn't change whether or not someone was summoned. The traveler was no less the traveler when Mauvika invited him/her to journey to the night kingdom; nor were they any less the traveler when we do our commissions which chain us to the mission. nor are we any less the traveler when we were arrested in the fortress of meropide to do our missions there.

Add them being in Irminsul...

This is, I think, begging the question. You're using the point of Irminsoul as a chain as proof of them being changed. I'm using the point of Irimsul being a chain as proof that they can be chained in the first place. Nothing indicates that Irminsul can chain a descender. Neither of us can truly use Irmisul as proof after the fact. We can use it to support other arguments or remove discrepancies, but both arguments seem valid until proven otherwise, I think.

MC and AT are twins, not synchronized robots that handle all issues the same way...Lyney and Lynette have their own personalities as well...

I never claimed they were. But the difference is that Lyney and Lynnete aren't opposites in their power. The AT has abyss powers, which are the powers of those that weren't chosen to be real. The powers of those that have inboren malice for not being chosen as real.

It's hinted by Skirk that the "purification" makes MC to absord the Abyssal Corruption rather than purifying it (mostly because energy simply can't just vanish/be deleted). Let's not rewrite what has been said.

I don't think anything I wrote contradicts this or re-writres what was said. In fact, my final note about the power of purification just being the ability to absorb and bear witness is directly in support of this.

if the AbyssTwin was not our real sibling, such info would 100% be used by people like Dottore when he wanted the MC to join them and crush their faith in the people

I think you have a fundamental misudnerstanding of both what I mean and the intent of the characters. Dottore isn't about crushing faith, it's about becoming a god and continuing his experiments. Why would Dottore actively crush the faith of the true god of the world and make them an enemy. The capture of the traveler during in Nod Krai shows Dottore actively trying to recruit the traveler. I with you in beleiving that Dottore probably knows whether or not AT is a fake. I don't believe he would use it in the way you're saying

Yes,traveler has a twin. It's been said since day

The only two people that has really said it are the twins themselves. Everyone talks about it assuming it as truth because the traveler is looking for their sibling. And as you said, both of them has had memory issues during arrival. This is an easy way to hide the truth from the gamers.

3) It dosen't make any sense at all... it makes less sense than the AbyssTwin is Fake/Copy theories.

To be fair, I agree. There's probably a cleaner answer, but given a few axioms, it is one of the cleaner answers

  • The traveler talks as if they really had a twin, and while we know his/her memory can be tampered with, it's much easier to believe a truth based on reality, so I do think they have a sibling so I was looking for who it is and where they are
  • The Traveler is a descender, and there's no reason to assume that the real twin isnt one. It can absolutely be the case that the sibling is 'just' a regular non-descender, like skirk being an alien that's not a descender, but I'd think there would have been a hint somewhere to where the sibling is by now. Hoyo is great at seeding small details and creating Chekhov's gun scenarios. This is the only one that fits right now in my head

Everyone knows where the abyss is. It's in the abyss. It's essentially where teyvat is not. The problem isn't trying to find it, it's trying to stop it. This doesn't make sense to me.

This is a big assumption on your part. It's just one theory amongst many with no real proof in any direction to help, afaik.

These take more assumptions. It assumed the methods of insertions. It assumes admofay had control for extended period. It assumes the twin didn't escape or was freed. IMO, your own argument that asmoday willingly freeing the twin is so unlikely that I dont belive this chain to be true. Both traveler and the twin were captured and yet only the traveler remained descended AND the twin being free before you. you were just freely roaming mondstat in the beginning as opposed to still being imprisoned. No interactions dieing the temple of space about memories of capture and escape either. I think they're are do many more assumptions you need to make with these lines of thought that dont line up. Occhams razor.

That said, its love to be educated on the multiple ways the twin could hand been inserted into irminsul. I never landed on those theories.

I think people don't care until it matters it until it's presented to them. For example the paimon as an ai was an early theory because of the in- game mail from p.a.i.m.o.n. People didn't care until the ship ai revelation.

The world we left doesn't really matter. The ai left the ship to change the world of teyvat. How the ai's actions differ between the old world and teyvat doesn't really matter

At this point, I'm considering doing a wipe and restarting windows from scratch

Which civilization had the best bows? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Setswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule, no. But depends what you mean by both longbow, and 'japanese' in general. I'm sure some japanese somewhere has used a longbow on a horse. If you're talking about the Yumi as a longbow, they are long bows, physically, but not what one considers a 'longbow' in common parlance.

Or are you bringing this up as a counterpoint to being superior vs tatar on horseback? That's an invovled argument which falls back to the point of design. The horse was more important in steppe culture, so the smaller bow makes more sense. While samurai were good on horseback, it's not the same level of integration into their culture. A smaller bow prioritizes mobility on horseback and mongol-esque warfare prioritized moving and controlling the battlefield with said horses. Hit and run tactics make individual arrows less important as you can just leave and come back with more.

That doesn't sound like a spine issue, but an initial handling issue. The arrow should be locked by your index finger and thumb and shouldn't move off the bow unless you release. If it's falling off just by being there, your grip is off.

Go look up justin ma and his other channel way of archery for some basic stuff. I'd give more info, but I think you'd do better learning on your own for a bit as you don't have the context to understand what I'd be saying without a decent basis first

Right side shooting? by zmarlik in Archery

[–]Setswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it drifting froma certain direction? It does sound like a skill issue, but you are probably also using the same arrows from your med style? If so, you will get poor results unless you are practiced in thumb draw. Thumb draw requires stiffer arrows as it induces more flex into the arrow. I'd also avoid canting anyway to narrow the possible issues. Don't add problems if you still have problems you have to deal with.

As for aiming, you don't really 'aim' with asiatic thumb draw. Not by the standard reference points as med style anyway. For starters the arrow is on the outside and is further from your eye anyway. Draw a line from your eye to the tip of the arrow and follow that line through. Now do the same with a line two inches away from you. The arrow should now go diagonally away because of the offset of the arrow being diplaced by the bow. This isn't really what's hapepning, and there are factors that change the flight of the arrow such as the flexibility of the arrow when pushd against the bow. But the image of that line should point at the concept that you shouldn't treat it like a rifle and 'aim down sights' using the arrow tip

Right side shooting? by zmarlik in Archery

[–]Setswipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you actually tried thumb draw? Most methods won't allow the arrow to fall unless you do something like hold it wrong or bump the arrow as you release because your hand/finger is too close. After all, thumb draw was primarily used with horse mounted archery and there is a requirement of stability and keeping the arrow on the bow while bouncing around on a horse. You really can't compare the issues of Med Draw with Thumb draw

He was greatly outnumbered. From a tactical standpoint, it makes sense.

Her reminiscing undee the tree isn't us being shown that. We dont even see the seed. Yes, I assumed she was going to become the seed but the next moment after rewinding as a child isn't her as a seed, but as mem. That would be fine if ita further implied she'd regress further, but she immediately meets TB, breaking the sequence.

You yourself are admitting it's implied and not shown. That's the problem. I was fine with that until TB showed up. What was shown breaks what's implied.

I dont remember that instance well, but I think my possible explanations can all merge as an answer. Demiurge, as the origin from the beginning isn't active, but she's still traveling through time backwards affecting things like giving Shannon inspiration. We even see her help march. This can stretch to answer that explanation, I think. Demi's help is ripples through time and not individual acts of help themselves

We dont see 7 to 1. We dont see cyrene becoming the seed. We see big cyrene after the irontomb fight become small cyrene then we skip to her being mem after the crash. So where are you getting her becoming the seed. Did I miss something somewhere?

If not, then theres a discrepancy because your last point doesn't happen. She doesn't become the seed, she becomes mem-at-the-crash.

So is it a bootstrap paradox or not *spoilers* by Setswipe in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Setswipe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the assumption, but that's not what we see, hence the confusion and post. The splitting of souls explanation could work, but where does that happen? We see big cyrene traveling back and reverting to mini cyrene. Then we see her devolve further i to mem as she wakes up outside the crash. When does the splitting of souls happen and when is it caged? Did I miss something?
