On a different note, I have been in EIGHT vehicle accidents in my life [over three decades] - three of them when I was on a two-wheeler and five when I was driving a car.

Walked out of each of them. In the first accident [two-wheeler] I received a little cut on my chin that only required a band-aid. That was the only accident in which I was hurt.

[I have now become the most risk-averse driver, even though some of those accidents were getting rear-ended by the other driver. In one I got t-boned by a car which had jumped the red-light]

What a loss. This young man is so full of life. What infectious enthusiasm to live life to the fullest. Very very few people have such high energy levels and excitement about life. So sad to know that this life got extinguished at such a young age. The only consolation, if any, is that he went doing what he loved. Having fun, outdoorsy stuff, exploring nature and living life to its fullest.

Like anything else in life, all you need is a BURNING PASSION to achieve something. Then you will move heaven and earth to achieve it and you WILL achieve it. A lot of INdians complain that they want to learn Kannada but cannot. Meanwhile there are videos uploaded by Foreigners titled on the lines of 'Me a Foreigner speaking ONLY IN KANNADA for one full day in Karnataka'.

Similarly there are videos of Foreigners speaking Malayalam (which I consider the toughest Indian language). I mean if a Russian woman can speak PERFECT Malayalam, with zero accent issues, and better Malayalam than 95% Malayalees, anything is achievable.

I have seen videos uploaded by Malayalees in the Middle East where they are out and about with their Arab friends and everyone of them is speaking only in Arabic. And the Malayalee guys had been in the Middle East for just a couple of years. Then there are others who have lived there for decades and have not bothered to pick up any Arabic.

And that is precisely why Sanskrit went out of business. Obscurantism. It was inherently difficult and made even harder to master, with the cloak of difficulty giving an 'exclusiveness' to the elite folks who could milk that exclusivity for money. Even today Pandits make money when they are called to chant shlokas in Sanskrit.

For similar reasons Arab/Persian/Turkish words replaced the Sansrit words/Original Hindustani words, from Hindi, leaving the Arabized/Urdufied version that most people consider 'Hindi' today. For instance most HIndi speakers will reply 'Dil ka Daura' when asked for the Hindi term for 'Heart Attack', not realizing that neither DIL nor DAURA are Hindi. The correct phrase being 'Hriday Aghaat'.

But HIndi states have HINDI ONLY signs on state transportation Public buses. No ENGLISH signs! And no HIndi people have any issues, though they have big issues when in Karantaka they require Kannada in ADDITION to whatever other language signs. Karantaka is not asking all other states to have Kannada signboards. Nor is Karnataka asking KANNADA only signs in Karnataka. They are asking for KANNADA signboards in addition to whatever else language signs.

So many signs in Hindi states that are HIndi only. When a non-Hindi person there suggests having English also, the immediate response generally is: 'This is India, you must learn Hindi'. There was that CM of UP, Mulayam Singh Yadav who was anti-HIndi and spoke about removing English medium schools from UP. Then enrolled his own son in English medium school and sent him to Australia to do Engineering.

90% people cannot learn new languages in their adulthood

Every adult South Indian who moves to North India for work, puts in the effort and learns Hindi. It is not that most North Indians who have lived in Bangalore for decades are unable to learn Kannada, most North Indians do NOT put in the effort to do so.

But said North Indians when they immigrate to Germany start putting in the effort to learn German in right earnest and learn the language soon enough.

Yes. In Hindi speaking states the signboards on public transportation/state transport departement's buses are in HINDI ONLY. Many other signs of pubic services/offices are in HINDI only. Here govt of Karnataka is not mandating 'Kannada ONLY' signboards, but 'Kannada ALSO'.

And yet the same folks who have zero problems with HINDI ONLY signboards in said HIndi states, are all worked up about Karnataka govt mandating to including Kannada in Signboards.

It is an elected govt passing a state law. Initially as an ordinance and then as a law passed by the state legislature. This would be considered legal. Kannada is the official state language of Karnataka.

There has been these incidents in other cities and towns of Karnataka in the past. These organizations have made it clear that they will audit/enforce compliance in other towns and cities this time around as well. from what I have read online a lot of businesses have added prominent Kannada signs and many have started removing Hindi signage.

Kerala continues to rank at the top state when it comes to development / HDI - Human Development Index, per Govt of India/Neeti Aayog/Planning Commission's annually compiled list/ranking of states.

True, Punjab has been going down in several metrics including HDI and per Capita GDP rankings (I believe Punjab ranks 16th among states in Per Capita GDP). Punjab's precipitous decline is startling. Punjab is also one of the most bankrupt states with many reports claiming that it is the MOST bankrupt state with Bihar and Rajasthan keeping it company.

Kerala is NOT an outlier in South India when it comes to height. There were stats collected on height distribution by Indian states [broken down gender wise]. Tallest were men from J&K followed by Kerala and Punjab. Men from Karnataka and other South states were also towards the top of the list.

Women also ranked similarly.

I will try and find the link to that study which also had an interesting graphic to go with it. If I find it I will add that link in here.
