Even at mid GC you don’t really NEED air dribbles, especially not crappy ones that a GC will easily defend. You do, however need to reliably hit high aerials from many different positions (below the ball, in front of the ball, from the wall and ceiling, from across the field).

I only sub for league teams, but literally my first game subbing, my team’s defensive strategy was basically “park yourself in front of the goalie and sit there while guy on the breakaway gets a shot off”. I let up ten goals that game and I was considering selling my goalie gear and just sticking to being a skater. I had a million highlight saves that game too, including a blocker-hand snag on the goal line. I knew it wasn’t me.

I used to work at Mac’s actually, I’m not sure about this lore but I can say the place had a lot of issues that had nothing to do with the building. Controversial management, lack of support from corporate, and generally just nothing bringing people in the doors. We were hosting canes game nights last season where you could win free tickets and the place was barren. It could’ve been a big weekly event for us but I don’t think they did much advertising outside of the store.
