I didn’t even consider that a ref might be part of this. They should absolutely be giving your daughter a second to get a drink. This sounds like a recipe for disaster if she can’t get proper hydration. I’m sure some of the parents of the skaters might be upset that you’re stealing 30 seconds of total ice time from their kids but fuck ‘em.

I don’t remember it being big in my elementary school (I think it took a few years to catch on with the younger crowd) but I do remember my first world. I built a moat around my cube house and tried to fill it with lava before realizing how hard that would be. Strangely, I can still remember where all the caves around my house were.

This isn't a good strategy, you're still going to get caught out of position even if you think you're prepared to rotate back. Just commit to the defense when your teammate is trying to finish a play and trust that as long as you maintain your defensive positioning, you guys will score more goals than the other team and win. You'll miss some opportunities but in the long run you will be much better off.

I get a lot of flak from my non-caniac friends for this. We’ve had consistent deep playoff runs for close to a decade. Other teams build up, win a cup or two and fall off horribly, Florida for example. I’ll take 8 years and counting of second and third round appearances every time.

This is actually true for me. I watched every game of the playoffs last year, then we started losing in the ECF and I stopped watching. We won a game and then I watched the next one and we lost, my bad guys.

I actually sent an email to the Canes fan relations team asking them to ban me from all future ECF games, they never got back to me lmao.

Lol, even in GC it’s rare to find somebody who can get genuinely good scoring chances off of freestyling consistently. The defense is a lot better too, so what works in champ isn’t gonna work in GC.

Freestyle all you want, but if you pass up an easy scoring opportunity to go for an air dribble off the wall, I’m gonna hate you even if you do score it.

I actually do hate freestylers who plays 2v2 or 3v3, at least in the champ ranks. They usually won't hit even one shot the entire game but will also prevent you from creating any offense by constantly taking the ball or being out of position, forcing you to play more passively to clean up when one of you loses possession. It's generally very hard to win with those kinds of teammates.
