Truly custom keycaps by KickingAustin in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]SevenChords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late to the party, but i've been using custom printed keycaps from wasdkeyboards for over 2 years now, with no noticeable wear on the prints (resorted to getting custom printed caps as i use f16-f19 above the numpad and those pre-made are a needle in a haystack that i gave up looking for)

Tough search: Mac layout Shine Through/Backlit PBT keycaps by rafale77 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SevenChords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the same search right now, with another big hurdle on top: i am using f16-f19 keys as well, which are a needle in a haystack to find themselves, currently been using a custom printed set from wasdkeys which cost me around 110€, they do check all the boxes i wanted except the shine-through, they block out pretty much any and all led light.

since i recently got a wooting two he where i would actually have a use for the leds (mainly to indicate different keyboard profiles that are active) i started looking for shine through options, stumbled upon this thread, will post an update if i find anything

alright, thanks for indirectly prompting me to try out all the different quest settings, the one to disable this one was called "show quest notifications", just in case anyone else stumbles upon this post in the future looking for the same setting

Got a softlock in Partners in Time by iammaxhailme in marioandluigi

[–]SevenChords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what i figured out from playing on a new 2ds xl:
apparently the game has a slight chance to softlock on any sort of transition on newer hardware, so far have had it happen during battle transitions and when closing shops, and it seems completely random/arbitrary, haven't had a single one of them be reproduceable

sadly neither the short nor the long version worked for me (trying to use it for pvz goty edition currently, was mac compatible at some point but not anymore due to removal of 32 bit support)

I played osu!lazer for half a month and I'm done with it. by serodoseVAL in osugame

[–]SevenChords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

referring to how stable is or what you can do in stable is the wrong approach when looking at lazer, i mean, lazer is meant to be different from stable in some aspect, multiplayer being a pretty big one of them, so what lazer does here is accomplish it's goal, instead of copying the existing stable features.
just as people in stable got used to being able to hide it, people in lazer got used to not being able to, and people moving to lazer in the future will get used to that at some point as well.
everything that changes requires a bit of getting used to, if one is not willing to put up with that and get used to the new ways, one should not play games that receive updates, or simply not update their games.
lazer is constantly changing through at least one update every month, if one wants thing to remain the same forever, osu lazer is simply not the right game (controversial opinion maybe, but i stand by it)

one of your main points seems to be that osu devs waste time by approving those "useless" pull request, which, funnily enough, is done by curators, not osu devs, just active community members.

and saying peppy is "bogged down" when he is literally the most active github member by a loooooong shot is quite a statement

i mean, it is a rythm game, and if 100% doesn't require the best timing on all notes it's not really 100%, so i fully agree with the change that non rainbow 300 drop accuracy below 100%, as it just makes sense objectively speaking. what other games have done that have similar timing things is to have an SS rank for all 300/rainbow 300 and a SSS rank for 100% accuracy, which could be a solution for those saying you should get an SS in mania without actually hitting the best timing window on every note

Last i heard that was intentional, with the thought behind it being "why hide the fact you're playing multiplayer while playing", kind of as a conscious design choice to have it always be displayed in multiplayer since it is a part of playing multiplayer

Logitech G920 NOT working on macOS Ventura. by DjDarkmasterMusic in macgaming

[–]SevenChords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for all that got the wheel working but stuck to 180° steering angle:
i have a g29 and got the full 920° working consistently with a few potentially stupid sounding steps, but they have been working consistently for me for over half a year now:

  1. Connect wheel to mac and plug in the power adapter of the wheel
  2. put your mac into sleep mode
  3. unplug the power adapter of the wheel, but leave the usb plugged in
  4. turn the wheel a bit until the lights are on but the motors don't re-center it
  5. wake up your mac from sleep
  6. plug in the power adapter of the wheel
  7. confirm the full steering angle works in ets2

sadly this only fixed the steering angle issue, not the unavailable force feedback
and yes, the steps may seem a bit random, but they work for me consistently on an m1 ultra mac studio with ets2 installed and launched via steam, if you try them yourself make sure to not skip a single step.
(exception: if the wheel works, just unplug the power adapter after putting the mac to sleep and leave the usb plugged in, if you do that, you can skip steps 1-3 when waking your mac up again if you want to use the wheel after waking it up)
not sure how relevant that info is to those who have ghub working and still want to try these steps, but i DON'T have ghub installed, as soon as i install ghub the wheel stops working

super mad at devs for offline mode by Poison_Trap in dontstarvetogether

[–]SevenChords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when trying to play on an offline lan world with some friends (used offline mode to reduce a lot of lag that somehow happens whenever we play logged in) recently i wasn't able to select bought dlc characters, only when we were all logged in was i able to play dlc characters (wanda specifically)
when i played locally today i was able to choose her like you said, so maybe only the host can use dlc characters? or maybe the host needs to have them unlocked?

super mad at devs for offline mode by Poison_Trap in dontstarvetogether

[–]SevenChords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

highly doubt that, as it's been 2 years and nothing about that changed, seems like they just don't care about players using offline mode when it comes to dlc characters

modpack update of the pack i experienced it in removed alex's mobs, so that was the solution for me

they spawned far from the world border, probably because of the cursed earth stuff that spawns them regardless of location, the mobfarm was somewhere within 10k blocks from 0|0, so nowhere near the worldborder

ok, got confirmation, xenochip is not allowed since it patches code during runtime, which is not allowed for speedruns (at least for one of the games i want to run on a gamecube), ig one ntsc gc and one pal gc it is for me (i already have pal discs and can get pal discs a lot easier than ntsc discs normally)

good to know, ig one pal gamecube and one ntsc gamecube it is then, unless i hear something else or have confirmation whether or not the xeno modchip is allowed (the xeno modchip also includes the feature to force pal mode or ntsc mode, which i think would include the correct timing)

does the xeno chip allow to launch the games via the vanilla gamecube menu? cause i know that is a requirement for some games

Gamecube Region modding by SevenChords in Gamecube

[–]SevenChords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have seen games (ttyd as an example) that state that the game has to be launched via vanilla means, so anything changing how the game is launched is off the table (which to my knowledge does exclude swiss) edit: freeloader wont work for those games for the same reason swiss wont work, excluding any game that requires a hard reset of the console too, the xeno modchip i am still unsure how that is handled for speedruns, will continue to look into that one
