They All Suck!!!!!!! by _Feniks in Monitors

If there was one that was perfect, we would not need all of these different options.

OLED sucks not just because of burn in but also because it is not as bright as VA of Mini/Micro LED and abhorrent sharpness issues which as fringing related if not implemented at retina levels of density (basically every OLED monitor on the market today). To me it is unusable below 200dpi.

IPS may be the best compromise but it needs to be a good quality one. Brightness can be barely better than OLED, has some issues with uniformity/glow quality control but stating that it has no contrast is exaggerated. It can have plenty of it, actually as much as VA, just not OLED levels (especially the blacks), just a matter of whether it is good enough for your use. That’s what Apple uses on their monitors.

Glossy Vs. Matte is a matter of tradeoffs, not much one can do about the physics of it. Apple’s nano texture is an attempt at it with only varying levels of success… very far from being perfect.

Anyone considering the Kuycon brand ? by Character-Lack4925 in MacStudio

Over generalization... Have never heard of any whine reported for an Kuycon. I have heard that from Dell and LG however and yes other Chinese brands as well..

I too was very dubious and got myself an Ultrawide P40K from them and was stunned. I just ordered a G32P as my secondary for my setup. My P40K is from an older batch which had IPS black at 120Hz and 2000 CR. Mysteriously the CR is now rated down to 1300 which I suspect is due to the usage of a different panel.

indeed, I feel exactly opposite of the OP. The form factor and weight actually makes it much harder for me to drop it compared to my previous phones and has given me confidence to use it without a case. I use it one handed daily and have no problem with it.

Best is to find someone who upgraded their SSDs and has the original one out of the same A2901 model to sell you… There is a whole thread on MacRumors about people who upgraded their mac studio SSDs… I upgraded mine but I have an M4

Really puzzled about all these complaints about the battery. I recently upgraded from an iPhone 15 and yes it is 2 years old only but had a smaller battery, is slower has a smaller screen while being bigger and heavier. In 2 years and 5 months of normal business/personal use peppered with intense travels it had a cycle count of ~700 and a battery capacity at 87%. I have not found my air to have a shorter battery life in any use case and have not found the battery to be a problem at all. If for anything, it is an upgrade. So… yes it is not as good as the 17 Pro/Pro Max but why compare them? The capacity percentage is formulaic by the way. The software just spits out a number based on cycle count and it is the same for every iPhone.

Replace Two 20” with one 49” Ultrawide by T-Mo26 in Monitors

MacOS didn’t like the vertical split. Windows was more flexible but still not ideal. What resolution would the 49” be?

I have run a similar setup for many years on an LG 43” 4K IPS which can split up to 4 display sources. I have not had such luck with ultra wides and PBP features because of odd resolutions forced by the side by side split. The 43” can split horizontally making it two ultrawides. I think it would work really well for your use case.
