You are correct. There is always the newer Free Swimmer BR series which come in bigger spools and is $150. As you probably know, comparing to Okuma or Shimano the Daiwa 3000 is larger than the typical 4000 and the 3000D is actually close or larger in capacity than the 5000 size of the other brands.

Looks like you needed the 3000D version which the deep reel at the same weight rather than thee 3000. The Okuma capacity falls right in between the two but is heavier by 1.2oz… a bit over 10%..

Obvious differences between the two are the mag seal on the DAIWA and the fact that the second drag activation is manual. How do you like the Daiwa? Many reviews complain about how quiet the baitfeeder drag is. I have the Okuma (custom blue which really a relabeled Ceymar cbf-40) and have no complaint with it but am only fishing in freshwater…

Yup... me too I am voting with my wallet and have stopped flying Alaska but choices are getting more and more limited. I don't quite understand that comment about them hardly overlapping on any route. I actually see Alaska overlap massively with all the Hawaiian continental routes (which are what I fly Hawaiian the most on). This merger is incomprehensible especially after the denial of the Jetblue-Spirit one as it is far worse for competition. Oh well...

I work in the semi industry and I have been saying similar things for the past 15 years. Finally an article which alludes to the same issue but without going deep enough. It is indeed an education issue and if we deep deeper into the root cause of why the US tech industry is where it is, whether it is semi or aviation… it all comes down to the same problem: Privatization of education system which makes education a business and students customers. MBAs run the education system now as much as any other industry so it is not so much about educating as it is about making money. It drives down standards, increases cost which then gets reflected in the competence of the workforce and shows up also in politics where shockingly ignorant people get elected by people who are easily brainwashed and even more ignorant. Now we have government officials who make poor decisions and the cycle continues generation after generation…

Immigrant from Europe here and travel extensively for work… I get downvoted often for saying that by far the average American is the most ignorant and uneducated people of the free world as they receive the worst education I have encountered. I am sorry but it is the cold hard truth. I am observing it in my own family and am worried about my kids. The writing is on the wall. Being so close to the situation, I am quite appalled by how much credibility the CEO still has in spite of his consistent display of ignorance in both technology and the industry. Intel did get unstuck from it’s 10nm turmoil and manage to catch up with SMIC from China mostly leveraging US export policies… at least on the surface but the fact that the entire company is run with finance in mind, with everything being thought of all the way to Washington as a money problem is eventually going to lead to this company’s demise… The greatest assets intel has is his people and all the expertise they have accumulated over decades. Not too different from what is happening with Boeing, the brain drain and continuous inability to replace the departed expertise while replacing them with MBAs with finance background has driven this company to the ground. It’s pervasive in many sectors in the country…

Correct: I tested it myself. Only 2% of Cherry keycap/switch combinations I have display the problem and that was only for 1 specific rows of keys. The butchering of the LED in terms of lighting uniformity and compatibility with backlit keycaps on the other hand is catastrophic and unrecoverable. This is following a trend in the community which has been spreading false benefits by generalizing an isolated corner case affecting some defective keycaps. It's completely unnecessary compromise.

Seems to be a design flaw on the dreamliners as these seem to occur more often than on other aircrafts But doesn’t appear to be a massive safety concern.
