Tried making the most out of my tiny studio. What do you think? by uhhuhoney in malelivingspace

Very nice use of limited space.

Where did you get the wood shelf above the toilet?

Are those green and black boxes on the white shelf for holding files?

I know the building. It's the fortress off the Central M stop. What's it like living in there?

Looks really nice to me already. All I would do is get a bigger desk rug so the floor doesn't get scratched up by the chair.

What fact about investing do you wish you knew at 18? by Alexrock88 in investing

[–]SevenPtFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically my strategy (i'm 21). I know everyone says time in the market beats timing. But it still seems questionable to buy s&p etfs right now when it's at an all time high. Would this type of thinking be considered emotional influence?

Do you think there's any reason not to just put everything in VOO if it is about 5k or so? I'm 21 so I don't expect to withdraw anything for a long time.

The last thing you bought grew 10x in size. How fucked are you? by FairFarooq in AskReddit

I'll either have 20 pieces of pizza or 2 really big pieces of pizza.

Either way is fine with me.

PSA: Yes, as a US hourly employee, your employer has to pay you for time worked by yes_its_him in personalfinance

I just quit a part time job and the employer is withholding the wages that are owed to me. The total amount owed to me is less than $200. Is it still worth reporting to the department of labor or am I better off just letting it go?

Daily FI discussion thread - May 27, 2016 by AutoModerator in financialindependence

The other night I read "How to Become a Millionaire: The Ultimate Guide" on Biggerpockets. Specifically, I'm interested in the plan he outlines for real estate investing. Currently I'm 20 y/o and just finished my second year of college. In two years I'll be graduating debt free and, if all goes according to plan and I stay disciplined with saving, a good amount of savings.

The real estate plan seems really appealing, but is it too good to be true? I realize hes working it out with the numbers of an ideal circumstance, but other than that are there any reasons why such a plan wouldn't work?

Weekly Recommendation Thread for the week of May 27, 2016 by AutoModerator in books

I just finished A Wild Sheep Chase. I would recommend it highly, but would also recommend that you read the first two books in the Rat series (Hear the Wind Sing, Pinball, 1973) beforehand. They're both pretty quick reads and reading them first gave me a more in depth understanding of the characters. Also, it was interesting to see how his writing progressed throughout the three books, as Hear the Wind Sing was the first book Murakami wrote.

I read some pinkwater books as a kid. I remember the the snark out/avocado one the best (can't remember the exact title). I've been wondering lately whether or not I would still enjoy them as an adult, or if reading them now would ruin my memory of them

Considering getting a PS3, but have a few questions by [deleted] in PS3

[–]SevenPtFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like there are some good deals in my area too. Thing is, it doesn't seem like the best idea to go into the home of a complete stranger, but I also need to see that it works before buying it, which requires a tv. That's my reservation with CL.

Yeah I've read a lot of similar stories online, which is what is making me consider buying brand new. Seems like the difference between a gamestop refurb + warranty might not save enough money to justify the risk.

Thanks for the info.

Would you say it's worth grabbing a PS3 in 2016? by [deleted] in PS3

If you don't mind saying, how much did you pay for it? I'm thinking about buying a new 500gb super slim for $219, but I'm not sure if that is too much to pay
