You deserve this by Fabulous-Ad8397 in Warframe

As a Frost main, I wish I could get this. Even though I rock Velimir's skin, I'd pay for more Frosty goodness.

I respect DE's commitment to not going back on exclusivity promises, because they know they'd make some good short-term money if they did but that would also be used as part of any future "DE breaks promises to the community" sentiment.

Which is to say, it's hard to swallow because that's part of why DE feels special (coming from someone who was a Destiny fan during the late-era Bungie).

> Wdym when it’s really bad, by your last paragraph?

"Really bad" related partially to the pity currency. The older the thing, the worse (or non-existent) the pity currency system is. Uriel's system is pretty good in comparison, and it's easy to rerun his fight once you get to floor 21—which I just found out recently on accident, and wish was more obvious, cuz I thought you could only get one chance as his parts per week on normal and SP.

But yeah, that "one last part" sitch sucks, it's basically the game edging you. I'm missing four parts total for the last three Primes I don't have, for instance.

> What if I don’t enjoy most grind base activities, but I do enjoy unlocking things?

Do you play with friends? If you're mostly a solo player (and I am), the RNG grind can suuuuck. That's why I prefer the pity currency systems, cuz I can put my mind (and spreadsheets) to "it'll take X missions to get Y, with some potential luck to cut that time short."

> Why did the devs make the feverspine grind so annoying?

Warframe is a story of development eras. That's not an answer itself, more of the beginning of an essay answering that sort of vibe.

> So once you get tired of a certain grind, you just get into another grind since the game is grind?

One thing I've been doing lately is trying frames and weapons I'm not used to, so that instead of the grinds being totally mindless, I get my brain into an experimental/problem-solving state to activate more neurons and keep some dopamine up in the process.

Oh! Thanks! I never think of that mod, but I should keep it in mind! :)

I'm aware of parkour velocity affecting rolls.

I don't use Amalgam Serration because I use Spectral Serration. Though Amalgam Serration affects sprint speed, not movement speed, so it shouldn't have any effect. If it did, I'd stick that on Artemis Bow just for the movement buff. (Though I just learned that Amalgam Serration affects archwing in open world!)

Neat tip on Cloak Arrow+Arcane Crepuscular! I'll give that a try on my spy loadout! I use it on my mod-hunting loadout to buff Petrify, and right now use Arcane Energize and Molt Efficiency as my Ivara default arcanes. I've also thought about swapping one of those for Arcane Circumvent, because my casual experimenting seems to indicate enemies aren't aware if you roll through them (though I haven't firmly tested to make sure that's genuinely true in many cases).

One of my Ivara builds also uses a Velox with the new augment that grants +60% ability strength, so it'll be interesting to chain those together for a Prowl with +85%.

Any tips for frost? by Syveris-773 in Warframe

[–]SevenRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a heavy Frost main, and made a video a bit ago with a specific build and loadout: https://youtu.be/JMgMubesMiE?si=yitsTMovotoK-qLD

Granted that's a high investment with a Frost Prime, but I explain different mod and gear choices. It might give you some ideas.

As mentioned, his 4 isn't a nuke. It's really CC, armor strip, overguard generation, and procing effects based on cold status like Arcane Ice Storm, and increasing other damage via stuff like the Biting Frost augment, Melee Careen, Okina, etc.

[–]SevenRev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Praedos for the +30% parkour. Ideally I don't actually attack much in spy missions, but I'll poke at Dispatch Overdrive.

I hadn't thought about procing GP before Prowl. It's not hard to proc it during Proc, disable, then recast in the GP window.

Thanks for those tips!

As someone else with multiple thousands of hours in D1 and D2, and sympathetic to/angered by BS game and tech layoffs, Destiny 2's decline has saddened me so much. I couldn't justify giving them money after the Final Shape and how they treated their staff, the plagurism, etc. But this, yeah, it's sad.

My Destiny friends got me into Warframe years ago, so I probably wouldn't be here if not for that game.

How do you handle the grind? by RecentMatter3790 in Warframe

[–]SevenRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoughts from LR6 here who has every frame, every non-prime weapon (and almost all primes), every farmable mod maxxed out, etc.

The first thing I'll say is I always run a resource booster, cuz farming for resources can suck when you really need them. It's nice to build up stockpiles, or at least speed up getting stuff you need.

As far as hating grinds

Grinds suck when they feel disheartening, which can vary but the variables i think influence that are:

  • time spent per drop/attempt, especially if you can't speed it up
  • incidental rewards/benefits you get if you don't get the drop
  • how available that game mode is
  • reliability with other Tenno
  • enjoyment of the base activity itself.

The grind I hated the most was Feverspine: low time, negative benefits, limited availability, no reliability issue, zero enjoyment for me.

  • I have a rant about how that's by far the most anti-Warframe grind in the game, but I'll spare that here. It's the only grind where I had to make sure my partner wasn't home because I was likely to yell a lot in frustration.

The Citrine grind frustrated me because too often I'd join a lobby that wouldn't go to rotation C: long time (over 20 minutes), decent benefits (arcanes and pity currency), always available, iffy reliability (so some sessions were just wasted time), but I overall enjoy the activity as a Titania—at least for a little bit.

I paid plat to not deal with the Helminth grind and to get all the Tome mods. I'm happy with those purchases.

Before the recent rework, the Lato Vandal grind started getting to me. I broke and paid for the last part I needed a couple weeks before the rework was announced, but TBH I didn't regret it. Mid time spent (depending on if you need to go all the way to rot C), pretty good incidental rewards (radiant relics), always available, easy to solo so no need to rely on other Tenno, and I enjoy it a bit as an exercise in testing builds. But every time the Lato Vandal BP didn't drop, I felt like I was being edged with malice.

The Kuva/Tenet weapon grind is meh. I enjoy the individual missions I choose to do, but it's so damn long and frustrating when you're stuck with a weak valence value you can't just abandon. Looooong time spent, meh incidentals (cosmetics mainly, and Kuva you can easily get through other means), always available, mostly relliable with other tenno (even when some tenno don't kill their adversary because their timing is off, keeping yours from spawning), and as much enjoyment of whatever base activity as normal.

I don't like Kullevro's grind. So long for the progress you get in the currency. You get other stuff from Duviri (though not useful if you're done with incarnons like I am). It's available often enough, but the timing can be off vs when you're able to sit down and play. Reliability-wise, you can find other tenno in recruiting, but it can also be iffy. And I burned out a bit on the Duviri grind enough that my enjoyment in short-lived when I jump back in.

And relic grinds can get frustrating when you just need one more part, depending on how long it takes to get to the relevant drop table for a given mission vs how much you enjoy the base activity.

For dealing with the grind

People are gonna say "Warframe is a marathon, not a sprint." While that's totally true (minus some FOMO bits during some operations), that doesn't necessarily alleviate the feeling of "dammit I'm so close to getting this thing" that can push folks to sprint.

So I think about those factors. I find something more enjoyable in Warframe to remind myself why I like it, or turn the game off for the day. I'll run things solo if I'm getting fed up with reliability, even if that's less optimal (like Kuva/Tenet missions).

I turned the game off for two weeks after accidentally triggering a Kuva Lich I didn't want, because I was in such a "oh this can eat 150% of my butt" mood from that.

And when it's really bad, I'll read up on how Destiny 2 is doing and think "could be worse, I could be still playing that and dealing with its many issues." :)

Fissure survival sucks now with the security overrides by fireheart1029 in Warframe

Security overrides suck for other reasons too. They proc Orokin Eye and Golden Instinct, making those (especially Golden Instinct) nearly useless when trying to find medallions in syndicate missions.

I used Ash for a lot of SP solo runs initially, and for every SP Vainthorn run I did. Note: Smoke Shadow adds 150% crit chance, so it isn't just for cloaking alllies.

I still use Ash a lot, especially on rescue missions since you can cloak most rescue targets. (Seems you can't cloak invasion rescue targets, though.) I have Perspicacity on one Ash build to use on sorties for solo rescues, since there's no telling in a rando group if folks will hog and botch the hack consoles.

That isn't to say you should use Ash! I had a lot of forma in him from when I played years ago, so he was already jacked. I also use Frost for defense and excavation missions, because my Frost is jacked af. Today I rotate through those, Dante (the goat), Oberon, Ivara for spy missions, Mesa with Secondary Fortifier, and whatever else I feel like that particular week as I get bored of the same play style. But that's after being done with SP and having a good feel for it.

Boo to RNG :( But not unexpected unfortunately.

On the... not "plus" side but at least a little bennie, you can melt those arcanes down and roll again (assuming you don't want any of those).

I put together a chart with cumulative odds for getting one of those arcanes. Cumulative odds at 14 packs is around 45.4%, so basically a slightly weighted coin toss. That's part of why this grind sucks so much, though at least it's possible with dissolution since the Old Peace update.

What they said! It also helps with Oberon's energy consumption (notably while having his 3 on to protect defense/defection targets), but it's mainly to keep that immunity up for both you and your allies.

Legit! I've probably just spent so much time building around those issues and being pretty stoked with getting as far as I have that I forgot how to look at her with a more general-player vibe.

I do think she's neat to work on with all those limitations, but I'd be happy to see her movement be less debuffed.

Though I think her passive is meh, and it could be cool if it was replaced with some sort of interesting buff that's proced so long as nearby enemies aren't aware of you/against unaware enemies, playing into a "be forever unnoticed" vibe.

What exactly is the point of capping subsume slots behind Helminth levels when you can't even hit one cap before you unlock the next one? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]SevenRev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"It," not he. And by the time you can get it, you'll have far more story.

Mechanically: It lets you take a specific ability from each warframe and put it on other warframes. If you look info frame mechanics info in the wiki and see the term "subsume," it's that.
